He tells Walter how his friend Willy Harris has taken his insurance money and left. Mama overhears this and becomes very displeased with Walter. He spent all of the insurance money to invest in the liquor store, even Beneatha's $3,000 dollars for school. Beneatha finally comes to realize the point of view Asagai is coming from that she can never really be mad because the money was never hers from the start. Asagai tells her about his dream of going back home to Africa and how she should join him. Mama makes Travis stay in the room so maybe it will make him change his mind on signing for the money. Walter finally decides to not sign off and tell Mr. Lindner that they are still moving. The movers come in to take away the heavy items in the truck while they grab all of the light boxes. Mama and Ruth stay behind after everyone else to take one last look at the apartment that was slowly tearing their family apart and reminiscing on things that happened.
