         <description><![CDATA[<div>Literary modernism, or modernist literature, mainly in Europe and North America, and is characterized by a very self-conscious break with traditional ways of writing, in both poetry and prose fiction. Modernism took place in the 1900s and modernism focused on architecture, literature, and philosophy. The beliefs of modernism was that there was no such thing as absolute truth, and they believed  that the world is created in the act of perceiving it, that is, the world is what we say it is.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One of the events that helped with American Modernism is WW1. In this event it helped shape the american modernism because it changed the way these people see things. It affected a lot like business, art, to social commentary. Modernists display a level of self consciousness not seen in any other movements. Also being that the roaring twenties also was a boom in construction and also the rapid growth in consumer goods such as automobiles and electricity. The Great Depression devastated the US economy. Half of all the banks failed. Unemployment rose to 25% and homelessness increased. Housing prices plummeted by 30%. Prices fell 10% every year </div>]]></description>
