Police Officer -- Alex Brown

Description: Alex is 23 years old. He/she has been a police officer for two years. As a rookie cop, Alex has been assigned the nightshift. He/she works from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. On the night in question, Alex recalls Sam Hill entering the police station at 2:15 a.m. Sam said he/she had heard a noise from a neighbor’s house. Sam described the noise as a loud shriek. Sam was suspicious that foul play was involved and wanted the officers to investigate. After questioning Sam about the noise and completing his police report, Alex notified fellow officers of the police. At 3:15 a.m., Alex and two other officers left the station to investigate. They arrived at Old Man’s house at 4:00 a.m. After knocking on Old Man’s door, Alex and his colleagues were greeted by Nar A. Tor. Nar A. Tor seemed pleasant and calm. Alex explained their reason for being there, and Nar A. Tor invited them -- very willingly -- into the home. Alex noted that Nar A. Tor appeared to be a delightful man who has happy to escort them around the property. When Alex inquired about Old Man, he was told that he was absent in the country. Alex noted that nothing appeared out of place. The home was well-maintained. There appeared to be no sign of foul play. Then, Alex observed Nar. A. Tor grow pale. He became nervous. Alex thought it was strange the way Nar A. Tor looked around Old Man’s room. Without warning, Nar A. Tor started screaming. Within moments, Alex realized Nar A. Tor was confessing to a crime. He scrambled to the planks of wood on the floor while screaming he had done the deed. At that point, Nar A. Tor confessed to killing Old Man. Upon seeing what Nar A. Tor had done with Old Man’s body, Alex placed Nar A. Tor under arrest.

Tor for 18 months, five years ago. At first, Nar A. Tor was very hardworking and caring. He/she did a good job looking after the horses on the farm. Then, Chris noticed Nar A. Tor take a sharp tool and strick his favorite horse, Clover. Clover was older and needed more attention. The way Nar A. Tor struck Clover scared Chris. He yelled at Nar A. Tor to stop. When he stopped the beating, Clover lay silently in a pool of blood. Chris fired Nar A. Tor on the spot. Chris told Nar A. Tor to leave immediately, or he would report him/her to the police. Chris now wishes he/she did.

Old Man’s Neighbor -- Sam Hill

Description: Sam is 34 years old. He/she has lived next to Old Man for the last five years. As a writer, Sam spends most of his/her time at work. Sam likes to observe his/her surroundings. They serve as inspiration for his/her work. In his/her affidavit, Sam has admitted to seeing Old Man only a handful of times. Sam has noted that Old Man seldom leaves his home. Sam has had many encounters with Nar A. Tor over the last two years. At first, Nar A. Tor was very friendly and frequently made an effort to converse with Sam. Sam’s contact with Nar A. Tor has been infrequent as of late. The last time they spoke was one week before the murder. Sam noted that Nar A. Tor appeared frazzled. He seemed preoccupied with something. Sam said their conversation was brief because Nar A. Tor was in a hurry to get back to Old Man. On the night in question, Sam heard a loud scream coming from Old Man’s house. Given that this had never happened before, Sam was worried. Sam immediately dressed and left his/her home to notify the police. It was 1:45 a.m. when Sam left his/her house. Sam returned home from the police station at 3:45 a.m.
