During Covid-19 many schools are not able to host career days or travel to career fairs. However, virtual opportunities to learn about various careers are available. Below is a link to Curious Kids learning more about careers as a marine biologist, cowboy, veterinarian and more. This video is appropriate for pre-school, elementary and middle school aged students, where career awareness should be targeted (Morningstar & Clavena-Deane, 2018).

The 4 ways to explore your career options

After reading our textbooks, Luecking, R. G. (2009) and M. Morningstar & B. Clavenna-Deane (2018), we are working to revise our transition to work services for our students.
There are four ways that we work with our students to begin career exploration. They start with researching careers on a website that we use. They start with a career that they like, and it opens to hundreds of subcategories for the student to research. We invite professionals to our school for a career day so the students can network for the future and interview different representatives. Once they are ready for jobs, they gain experience by interning at various companies. They fill out paperwork on skills that they had and ones that they still need. They inform us on the jobs that they did not like and the reasons why. Once they have rotated through the different companies, they evaluate how they did, what they did not like, and decide if a career in the job would be a good fit for them.

'Find Your Inspiration' helps kids explore career options" YouTube · 10/10/2017 · by NBC 26

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSDrbKoMxQQ
