During the American Revolution the American soldiers were outfitted with nice warm, protecting clothes. One piece of clothing was their hat that was turned up on either one or three sides. The hat kept their head covered and warm. American soldiers also wore a black leather stock around their neck to keep their necks protected from bullets. They also wore wool coats that usually had a collar, cuffs, and lapels that were different colors. The wool coats helped the american soldiers know which ones are on their side. The wool coats also would keep them warm even if it got wet. Under the wool coat the American soldiers wore cotton or linen. This would help keep comfort under the wool coat and it would also keep them a little warm. But if it got wet that could cause illness because the shirt is not very thick and it would make the soldiers cold. The American soldiers also wore a waistcoat or vest either made out of linen or wool. That would keep the wool coat covered and it would give more warmth and protection. They also wore a pair of wool, linen, or cotton trousers. The trousers kept their legs warm and protected. On the other hand the trousers would lack heat if wet. And the American soldiers also wore leather shoes that would keep their feet protected. If the shoes had gotten ruined or wet the soldiers could get frostbite on their feet. Lastly under the leather shoes the soldiers wore stockings to keep comfort and warmth for their feet.

The Flintlock Musket.

A flintlock musket was a gun used during the American Revolution. One way it influenced the revolution was it's smooth bore barrel. A smooth bore barrel is a barrel in a gun that's smooth so when you fire a bullet out of it it doesn't spin and just kind of throws it out their; Think of it like a football when you toss it sideways it moves randomly but if you throw it in a spiral it flies straight. This influenced the Revolution because due to the inaccuracy the soldiers had to fight in lines so that if they were aiming at one guy the bullet might hit the guy next to him. The Musket was also inaccurate for another reason. It had no sights. This was a big deal because the shooter didn't know where to put his eye so the gun might shot high or low depending where the shooter put his eye. This affected the Revolution because it wasted supplies if a shot missed. It also took a long time to reload the musket. It took about 15 seconds for a trained soldier to reload . This influenced the Revolution because while one team was reloading their guns the other team could charge and take their position. The bayonet was also a piece of the musket that would be attached to end and used to stab people in close quarters and it could be taken of the musket and used as a knife. This influenced the Revolution because in close quarters soldiers any had their muskets and they were only good for one shot so then they had to go to hand and hand combat where the bayonet came in. Another way the musket influenced the revolution was it's bullets drop over range. At 100 yard the bullet would drop 18 inches which is very extreme. This is another reason the usually fought at 50 yards because any farther than that it would be really hard to hit the target. There was also another disadvantage to using the musket. It was very long. On average it was 5.5 feet long. It influenced the revolution because if you were crawling to do a sneak attack and the tip of your gun was spotted then the attack would be ruined. The flintlock was also another part of a musket. It work by a person pulling back a cock with a piece of flint on the end that would release and strike a piece of steel the would ignite the gunpowder when you pulled the trigger. This was a disadvantage because if mud or another substance got on the flint it would not create a spark with the steel and their would be a miss fire. This was problem because if a soldier had only a little bit of time to fire and it miss fired it could mean the difference between life and death. The musket played an important part in the American Revolution.

As you can see without the clothing of the American soldiers in the American Revolution the soldiers would be cold and unsafe. Both sides used the flintlock musket which kept them safe against the other team.
