https://watch.screencastify.com/v/3lY3APR7a3XNiz2MV8t

Buddha was locked up in the palace for 29 years without knowing about sickness, aging, and death, because when he was born a hermit told his parents if he ever left he would be a very important and famous religious leader, so his parents kept him locked up. And one day when he was 29 he wanted to explore so he left the palace on a journey. And when he left he found out about sickness, aging, and death which was stuff he never knew about. He decided to become ascetic after he learned about all this and he shaved his hair took of his jewlery and nice clothes and put on a simple robe. And he meditated for 6 years eating only apple seeds with other ascetics but found it was pointless because he could touch his back from his stomach as he says and they did not like this so they shunned him. And then he still wanted to find enlightenment so he went to a tree known as the Bodhi tree and meditated, and on the 49th day he reached true enlightenment and the other ascetics became his followers and spread the word and taught how to become elightened using the eightfold path.

Becoming enlightened would mean finding your deep truth and being free from suffering, or being in the state of enlightenment. After you were enlightened you would no longer be reborn into pain and suffering. There are two different major groups of Buddists and they can be enlightened in different ways. One group-Mahayana, would be enlightened by helping others, and the other group-Theravada, would be enlightened by finding oneself.

In conclusion, Buddha endured a lot of pain, suffering, and truth to find his enlightenment. He was locked up in a palace, he learned about sickness, aging, and death. He meditated under a tree for 49 days, became very skinny, and he could touch his own spine through his stomach. As you can see Buddha/prince Siddhartha Gautama had to go through and endure a lot of pain, suffering.
