My Journey to Teaching by Grace Justice

While in high school I was apart of organization called TAFE, or, Texas Administration of Future Educators. This organization allowed me to student intern for a kindergarten class 4 days a week. I have known that I wanted to be a teacher from a very young age but this internship truly solidified that teaching was for me! I learned so much in this internship from classroom management to lesson planning, and I even got to teach a lesson of my own at the end of the year. I was able to form a great relationship with the teacher and the students, it was such valuable experience for me to have before college!

I graduated from JJ Pearce High school in Richardson, Texas in 2023. I am now a student at the University of Arkansas, pursuing a degree in Elementary Education! I am currently a junior and have been able to learn so much in my education courses. I have learned about how to be the best educator I can be. Additionally, I absolutely love the The U of A, the campus is beautiful and Fayetteville has really become my home away from home while I'm in school. Outside of school, I enjoy hanging out with friends, thrifting, and going on walks through the city!

After graduating from the University of Arkansas with my degree in Elementary Education, I plan to become a kindergarten or first grade teacher. I'm not sure where I'll be teaching in the future, in Texas or in Arkansas, but I'm excited wherever I end up! I hope to foster an environment for my students where they feel excited to learn and collaborate, where they feel safe and comfortable, and most of all where they feel seen. I am so excited to have a classroom and students of my own one day. Teaching is my passion and I look forward to the day I am doing that!
