As a parent, your duties are endless and you don't always remember to pick up the phone to check in on someone. I feel that social sites like Facebook help with that. For example, my best friend moved to a different state and I can see what she has been up to by looking at her page. I can comment on her pictures about the mountain she hiked etc, without having to pick up the phone because chances are my kids will be too loud and I won't be able to hear her. 
I want to be able to share but to a point where I'm not sharing too much.
