I thought that the book was okay as it was kind of based on one thing and I got bored while reading it. There wasn't really mystery, suspense, and we could already tell what was going to happen in the end. I also didn't like how it ended as it ended of at a point where there wasn't something to think about. I learned that not everyone is the same and people need to learn in different ways. This was similar to Wonder as both stories included people that had a disability and were treated differently because of that.

My opinion on this book was that it wasn't the most interesting book, even though it was quite descriptive and easy - to - follow. The plot of the book had a good story, included many events, and explained the problem and theme nicely. The overall goal of the book - To show us that though everyone is different, everyone is special in their own way - was shown nicely throughout the story in the form of David. I felt very bored reading the book since the story line didn't keep me engaged in reading the book. There was very less action in the book, and the ending was very really predictive. I didn't feel surprised or interested through the book, and there wasn't too much emotion put into the book. This book was like Wonder since at least one character had a disability in the book and had to

There was no suspence and I thought it was boring at some points. The was a lot like last summers book, Wonder. Overall I thought it was a sweet story, but not something I'd recommend it.

This is why I did not enjoy the book. The only thing I found a little bit interesting was how Catherine acted with David and the different things she did to make him stay calm. I saw how someone had to cope with a younger sibling who is autistic.

When Catherine put her hand over David's mouth so he couldn't scream, it was realistic. All of the things Catherine goes through because of David, are what people who have siblings with additional needs would go through. I just really like how they were able to get across a realistic message and situation in a book. Even though I enjoyed the book, I find that it could have been a bit more entertaining for the reader. It was hard to connect to David, and was really more just connecting on Catherine's end.

It showed what life would be like for someone to have an autistic sibling. For example, if David has wants to go to the video store, but he has to go to OT, he would start screaming as loud as he can, until he gets what he wants. Also, Ryan tricked him about giving him a piece of gum, David started crying, instead of taking it as a joke.

I enjoyed the book rules because of various different reasons.
1. Rules was an interesting text because it dealt with emotional stress of Catherine.
2. Rules was really cool because Catherine just wants to be the normal girl and does not want her brother ruining everything for her. Even though she understands what is with her brother David she is still troubled buy the fact she cannot just be normal.
3. The suspense that adds in this because she is hiding her friendship with Jason, so she can look normal in front of Kristi (who likes Ryan, a person who Catherine thinks is a jerk)
