         <title>Tim O&#39;Brien</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Description: He's the author and was a soldier in the Vietnam war. He's white and lived in Minnesota.<br>Quotes: "...twenty years ago I watched a man die on a trail near the village of My Khe. I did not kill him. But I was present, you see, and my presence was guilt enough"(171).<br>Tim O'Brien witnessed people getting killed in Vietnam. He later states that he didn't actually kill anyone, but since he witnessed it, he felt guilty. This shows that he feels bad about what happened during the war.<br>"In June of 1968, a month after graduating from Macalester College, I was drafted to fight a war I hated"(38).Tim O'Brien didn't want to fight in the Vietnam War, yet after fighting in it, he has made a career out of writing about his experiences.</div>]]></description>

'Just mess things up. Besides, the man looks happy out there, real content. Let him be.'"<br>The guys in the platoon feel as if Jimmy Cross is incompetent&nbsp;as the leader.</div>]]></description>
