They were all accused of being witches by children, who a said that they were making the spirits hurt them. This is because, according to Document N, the symptoms of eating ergot includes "crawling sensations in the skin, tingling in the fingers, vertigo (dizziness) ...hallucinations, mania... and delirium." According to  Document K, Ann Putnam (11) said, "I saw the apparition of Goody (Rebecca) Nurse..." It would have made sense if Miss Putnam had ingested ergot sometime before, since the symptoms of ergot include hallucinations. Also according to Document K, Ann Putnam states, "But since that, she hath grievously afflicted by biting, pinching, and pricking me..." There is a lot of evidence to support this theory, and it fits in with the events that took place.
