Mao had 3 revolutionary goals such as.. he wanted to make life better for the poor, develop a modern economy, and he wanted to restore China's position as a major world power. Some challenges made these goals difficult to achieve such as... a huge part of the population needed a lot of resources to be able to survive, Lack of industries that were needed to farm, and years of war. The government helped Mao by putting his name pretty much everywhere and supporting his ideas. This lead to the catastrophe from Mao's Revolutionary Goals.

China's government owned the farms in the country. The farms were collective farms, where a large group of people farmed together, and were run by the government. The government chose the group of people to work with each other at each collective farm. This caused the farmers to forcibly work together on a small piece of land.

The Cultural Revolution had goals such as... to "root out" anyone who did not support Capitalism, and to get everyone in China to fully support Capitalism and Mao. The Cultural Revolution caused schools to close, uncooperative factory employees, and caused nothing to get done in China. The government ended up sending the Red Guards to faraway rural areas.
