This quote indicates character development and person vs. self conflict.

Through the use of syntax, the author emphasizes Mary's internal conflict. Her emotionless state is heavily emphasized through the lack of words in the syntax. It makes one focus on the word "never" -- will there eventually be a breaking-point? And the fact that this quote is at the end of chapter one may be hinting/foreshadowing to this breaking-point. Ultimately, the staccato (short) syntax reveals the effects of Mary's in independent/individualistic mentality.

this quote is important because the way she compares herself with the other girls that she i guess lives with she thinks that she did the worst crime out of all of them even though she was nine years old. the author uses person vs self conflict and diction to show how throughout the chapter she continues to say that she is a killer and is "psychotic" because of her past. this quote is different from the others because this is how she sees herself not how others see her and i guess her opinion is more damaging then how others see her.

The Figurative "The tears are frozen inside with the rest of my emotions." This indicates that she was emotionally abused by her parents because when you freeze your emotions it is cause you are afraid, terribly afraid. The world She believes what she has done was not wrong. She believe she is innocent. This emphasized an man vs. Society conflict for Mary because she views the world differently from others.

This quote is important because the author uses the literal devices such as diction/descriptive words ,and figurative language, and conflict. all 3 of these things work together. The figurative language " the tears are frozen inside with the rest of my emotions" shows that over the years she realized she had no more tears to cry. This quote shows how she feels all sorts of numbness to all feelings and emotions she's facing. The diction in this is "Frozen'' , when i think of frozen i think of something turned into ice and stuck together and that's what she feels her tears are buried into her emotions.
What makes this quote different from the others is in here the author really expresses the mary more the diction, figurative language, and conflicts makes this different from the others.

This quote is important because the authors uses figurative language to indicate that Mary is so near to being emotionless. The word “frozen” symbolizes her feelings are on pause. Also, the word “jealous” tells us that she can still feel something because jealous is an emotion so she is technically not emotionless although she says she is. By saying she was once that girl, it highlights the fact that’s she’s changed and adjusted to her new lifestyle. Her being “numb” is a person vs self conflict.
