Twins ,mainly identical, play a fascinating role in the study of human growth. This is due to the fact that identical twins share 99% of their genes. Since this is the case, if one twin has some mental disability, then the other twin will most likely obtain the same mental disability.

An example of these changes would be how the fetus changes size within a few weeks within the womb. The fetus continues to grow and develop noticeable changes within the course of the 9 months of the mother's pregnancy.

One factor is smoking, when a woman smokes while pregnant she is risking the health of the fetus since that action can result in the infant being born relatively smaller than normal. Stress from the mother can also play a factor in the health of an infant. If the mother is stressed, then the baby in the womb could sense their mother's stress and become anxious from it. This is why some doctors tell pregnant women to try and relax during their pregnancy, so that the baby will not become anxious or stressed during the time they are in the womb.
