In 1980 government support for tourism continued with the establishment of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 1987. Then, on 20 May 1992 the Ministry of Culture and Tourism was renamed Ministry of a Culture, Arts and Tourism or MoCAT. In 2004 April, MoCAT was split to facilitate the statement of a separate ministry which was responsible solely for matters related to tourism. On 15 May 2013, MoTout was transformed to Ministry and Culture (MOTAC) after the 13th General Election.
