He helped the FAU team win a conference championship in 2019, during which year he also graduated with a bachelor of arts in international business. Outside of his studies, Mr. Wessel worked as a part-time sales associate at Vineyard Vines. His accomplishments in this role include achieving the third-highest net sales among managers and sales associates during November and December’s bust holiday months. Currently, he is pursuing an interest in coaching college football. As a FAU student coach in 2017 and 2018, he attracted media attention for his mentorship skills. Among others, these span explaining football fundamentals and signaling plays. Trent Wessel also earned recognition for his coaching talents from then-head coach Lane Kiffin, who attributed Mr. Wessel’s abilities in part to his maturity and football IQ. He continued to provide the same skillset when transferring to Louisiana Tech, continuing the "player-coach" coined title that existed while at FAU.
