My role as Actor/ performer is to help bring the directors creative vision to life by portraying the characters he has created in the script. I want to be able to show my creativity when interpreting my character and develop my screen acting skills in the hopes of creating an effective performance.

I will constantly maintain my professionalism such as showing up to set and being ready on time. Knowing my lines fully in. order to portray my character and always be aware on set as to what my directions are and always be awear of my surroundings.

EDITOR (OFFLINE EDITOR)

My role of Offline Editor is to liaise with the director to create a rough cut of the final film. I aim to follow the directors creative vision and bring the story to life showing off the main themes and narrative in the film.

I will use the continuity sheets and script to make adequate choices of what shots to put into the film as well as explore more technical aspects such as minor colour grading and syncing the sound.

Also, when creating this rough cut i need to make sure that the continuity of the film flows well and make sure that the pacing of the film works well and there are no abrupt jump cuts and making transitions smooth.

I aim to keep in constant communication with the director and the rest of the editing team so ensure i am keeping with the overall creative vision. As well as using my time wisely by editing the film throughout production.

Even though i was prepared on the audition day i still found the nerves got the best of me which is something i need to work on because it made my stutter bad and i wasn't fully able to concentrate. Despite this i still gave it my all and really tried to embody the characters and i ended up with the part of Lisa which made me very happy!!

I also did a lot of research on anamorphic lenses as that was how the film was going to be shot and learn how to convert the footage on premiere pro

I annotated my script accordingly and throughout pre production i was constantly learning my lines and really paying attention in rehearsals to understand the directors vision and fully prepare for the shoot days. I didn't want to have to worry about my lines so i could fully embody Lisa as a character and give an emotional and convinsing performance.

It wasn't mandatory that i went however i wanted to discuss the data wrangling for the film with Khieng and also offer my assistance as an actor so the crew had a person to work with when testing the equipment.

I found this really beneficial personally because it allowed me to gain an understanding on how things would look during production,but also see a visual representation of the shots for the edit.

The pacing was still a bit off but i knew it would be like this until the film was put into a picture lock and transitions between scenes were added. I always tried to keep that mindset of the film wasn't going to look finished once i had finished my part as the offline editor so that's why reviews for me are very important so i can make any desired changes once there is a completed piece.

I made sure to put myself back in my characters mindset so that my line delivery was the same paying close attention to my line pacing and voice tone. This was particularly important when recording the ADR for scene 7a when im voicing the flashback i made sure to focus on my voice and really tell a story with it and keep that ghost like eariness to it.

Before i was needed on set i sat down and went over my lines and really tried to focus on getting into character and calming my nerves before i was needed. As it was the first day on set i did feel extremely nervous however i found once i was acting and on set i felt very in my comfort zone and listened to direction and if i was unsure about anything i made sure to ask for guidance.

We then moved onto the SU building where we filmed the kitchen flashback. in this scene i'm not speaking however there is a voice over of me talking. Therefore i really focused on my facial expressions and body language to communicate the mood of the scene whilst also being a wear of the voice over and keeping that in mind with my pacing and movement. I think i achieved this well and me focusing on my facial expressions and characters emotions really came through.

As the day progressed it got hotter and hotter so making sure i was drinking enough water and wearing enough sun cream because i didn't want to get a sun burn for continuity reasons.

When it came to filming under the tree keeping focus on continuity was important because again there is a lot of movement and eating crisps which i had to keep the same. I also really focused on my line delivery keeping a slower pace and focus on the emotion of the scene and how Lisa find comfort in talking to Patrick and keeping that relationship element to it.

As the scene went on i did find myself beginning to struggle with the heat and i started to feel very ill however i pushed on and tried not to let it affect my performance and made sure to take an appropriate break in the shade afterwards to make myself feel better.

I made sure to take my time and carefully look over each shot making sure continuity worked well, syncing the sound and adding LUTs to help Callum and Jamie.

On the Bank holiday monday i met with Khieng and we went over the edit together to form the picture lock. I made sure to keep to his creative vision whilst also guiding him through my edit and communicating with him why id made certain choices in the edit, what shots i used and how the pacing could work.

This was something that i was glad to improve on because im not the best at explaining my thoughts and process so this day really allowed me to communicate my interpretation of the film and develop those communication skills as an editor.

In the beginning during Pre production i did find myself feeling a little lost in terms of my roles as everyone was talking about production paperwork and other pre production elements whereas my roles were very production and post production based roles so i often found myself struggling with feeling like i should be doing more even though i was doing the appropriate prep and extra prep for my roles. To overcome this i made sure to keep communication up with the other roles and really focus on my own preparations for filming and exploring my skills as an actor.

Being able to experience life on set during production was a really fun and interesting experience it allowed me to learn to adapt with my acting quickly and see how a day of filming can be structured. Moreover, it has also taught me time management and preparation for editing whilst eding throughout production. I'm really glad i took this approach because it made me feel a lot more organised and meant i could enjoy the editing process whilst being productive.

Post production allowed me to learn new technical skills and shortcuts when using premiere pro. It also allowed me to develop my communication skills and test my knowledge of narrative and pacing. I feel as if i have created a well paced film with some really beautiful and bitter sweet moments and watching it back for the first time on the monday made me feel some pride to my work because i worked very hard on it.

We plan on meeting before the premiere to finalise the film and whilst watching it i will note down any slight changes i want to make to mainly look at the pacing of the film and feed that back to the director to make sure we have the best possible edit to hand in and premiere later. I hope that when the rest of the group watches the film they see how all their hard work has paid off and that i have communicated the story/ narrative of the film well. But i also want to reflect on this process and see what i could do differently going into other projects mainly working on my confidence and communication skills. Also exploring different narratives, this time i have edited quite a slow paced film and next time i want to try and film something with a bit more quickness to it. This process has also allowed me to expand more skills in terms of colour grading and syncing sound which are all important with the editing process and it has also allowed me to expand my skills as an actor and really stretch my acting capability which i hope to do more in the future.
