         <description><![CDATA[<div>The American War of Independence was caused by a combination of factors.<br><br>1-<strong>Ideological factors:</strong> The ideas and Enlightenment thinking of the Colonists&nbsp; about liberty and equality became the basis for the independence movement.</div><var><br></var><div>2<strong>-Political factors: </strong>British Parliament made decisions on taxation and other matters relating to the colonies. And Britain refused to allow that.<strong><br><br>3-Economic and social factors: </strong>In this time there was a wealthy colonial bourgeoisie who wanted the freedom to trade without the interference of Great Britain.<br><br>4-<strong>The Seven Years' War</strong> (1756-1763), in which American colonists participated in the struggle against French possessions in Canada and Louisiana. <br><br>5-<strong>The imposition by Great Britain </strong>of taxes on imports of various products so that the colonists could pay for the expenses caused by the war.<br><br>6-<strong>The Boston Massacre</strong>, which in 1770 ended with the murder of several colonists by British troops.<br><br>7- <strong>The closing of the port of Boston and the prohibition of the right of assembly decreed by the British in 1773</strong>, after some colonists, disguised as Indians, threw the cargo of tea from several ships into the sea.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1-The seven years' war:<br></strong>The Seven Years War was a global conflict which ran from 1756 until 1763 and pitted a coalition of Great Britain and its allies against a coalition of France and its allies. The war escalated from a regional conflict between Great Britain and France in North America, known today as the French and Indian War.<br><br><strong>2-The Stamp Act:<br></strong>The Stamp Act was a tax put on the American colonies by the British in 1765. It said they had to pay a tax on all sorts of printed materials such as newspapers, magazines and legal documents. It was called the Stamp Act because the colonies were supposed to buy paper from Britain that had an official stamp on it that showed they had paid the tax.<br><br><strong>3-Townshend Acts:<br></strong>The Townshend Acts were a series of laws passed by the British government on the American colonies in 1767. They placed new taxes and took away some freedoms from the colonists including the following:<br>-New taxes on imports of paper, paint, lead, glass, and tea.<br>&nbsp;<br>-Established an American Customs Board in Boston to collect taxes.<br><br>&nbsp;-Set up new courts in America to prosecute smugglers (without using a local jury). <br><br>-Gave British officials the right to search colonists' houses and businesses.<br><br><strong>4-Boston Massacre:<br></strong>The Boston Massacre occurred on March 5, 1770 when British soldiers in Boston opened fire on a group of American colonists killing five men.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1-Benjamín Franklin:&nbsp; </strong>(1706-1790), Politician, diplomatic and American scientific (US), was the first American ambassador in France.<br><br><strong>2-George Washington: </strong>(1732-1799), Considerate the fatherland, was the commander in chief of the continental army. After the end of the war he was elected the first president of the United States.<br><br><strong>3-John Adams: </strong>(1735-1826), Lawyer, diplomatic, and American theoretical politician. Was the secon president of the United States, and later ambassador in some European countries.<br><br><strong>4-Thomas Jefferson: </strong>(1743-1826), American politician with great abilities to the public speaking. Wrote the act of independence and was elected the third president of the United States.<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Consequences of the American Revolution:<br><br>-<strong>The weaken of Great Britain,</strong> after the loos of its North American colonies, reoriented the geographical bases of its colonial empire towards Asia, Africa and Oceania<br><br>-<strong>The enactment of the U.S. Constitution of 1787</strong>, which established the republican, representative and federal form of government; and the creation of three independent branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial.<br><br>-The enshrinement of <strong>elementary rights</strong>, inspired by the ideas of the Enlightenment: freedom of speech, press and assembly, as well as the right to petition the authorities and the right to bear arms.<br><br>-The beginning of a process of economic development that made possible the creation of a powerful internal market and the territorial expansion towards the west in search of raw materials to feed the incipient industrial development.<br><br>-The incidence of the Independence of the United States in the triggering of the French Revolution, due to the serious economic crisis provoked in France by the military support given to the rebellious colonists.<br><br>-The influence that the United States exerted on the Spanish-American colonies, serving as inspiration and model for the Creoles who wished to put an end to Spanish domination in America.</div>]]></description>
