Map of the World - Filming Spot of Lovely Runner: Ryu Sun-jae’s Home in Suwon

The Korean drama Lovely Runner (tvN, 2024) has become one of the most talked-about time-travel romance series in recent years. Interestingly, this drama is not an original screenplay. It is adapted from the web novel Tomorrow’s Best (내일의 으뜸) written by Kim Bbang, which was later turned into a webtoon illustrated by Doong Doong before finally being made into the TV series (Wikipedia, 2024). Because the story came from a book, the producers tried to bring authenticity and atmosphere to the adaptation.

One of the key locations is Ryu Sun-jae’s (Byeon Woo-seok) family home, a blue-gate house located in Suwon. This setting was chosen because the narrow alleys, low brick houses, and the nearby Suwon Hwaseong Fortress create a nostalgic small-town vibe that perfectly fits the story’s mix of high-school life, romance, and time-travel elements (VisitKorea, 2024).

Main Characters and Actors:

Byeon Woo-seok as Ryu Sun-jae, a top star whose life is deeply connected with the heroine. (AsianWiki, 2024)

Kim Hye-yoon as Im Sol, a film student and loyal fan who mysteriously time-travels back to her teenage years to change fate. (Wikipedia, 2024)

Fun Facts & Nowadays:

The blue-gate house used as Sun-jae’s home sits directly across a small alley from Café Mong Ted, which appears as Im Sol’s house in the drama. Today, Café Mong Ted still operates as a real café, and it has even placed a yellow umbrella ornament to celebrate its connection with the series and attract fans who visit the filming spot (JoongAng Daily, 2024; DanielFoodDiary, 2024). Meanwhile, the house itself remains a private residence, so visitors are encouraged to respect the locals.

Moreover, the area is located near the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which enhances the drama’s aesthetic with its historical backdrop (UNESCO, 2024).

Title : The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)

Location : Tokyo, Japan

Info :

The film is set in Tokyo, Japan, and revolves around the world of drift racing. However, while the movie uses establishing shots of real locations in Tokyo, much of the main action was actually filmed in Los Angeles and other parts of Southern California. This was due to the difficulty of obtaining permits to film in crowded areas of Tokyo, especially for high-speed car scenes.

Main actors :

-Lucas Black as Sean Boswell, a teenager whose hobby is racing.

-Sung Kang as Han Lue, Japan Racer.

Real location

-shibuya crossing

-takeshita street

-adidas futsal park

Other iconic scene were filmed in Southern california, LA

Fun fact and nowadays

"Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift," released in 2006, is the third installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. While it's set in Tokyo, a significant portion of the movie was actually filmed in Southern California. A fun fact is that Vin Diesel makes a cameo at the end, which was part of a deal where he received the rights to his "Riddick" franchise in exchange. The movie's timeline was later revealed to take place after "Fast & Furious 6," bridging the gap between the sixth and seventh films.

Although marketed as being set in Tokyo, many iconic scenes, like the parking garage drift and the scenes in Han's garage, were filmed in California. The final race scene was shot on San Gabriel Canyon Road in California.

sources : https://duniaku.idntimes.com/film/internasional/fakta-sung-kang-1-00-tyb7w-khwdtx

https://www.detik.com/sulsel/berita/d-7463184/sinopsis-fast-and-furious-tokyo-drift-berpacu-di-arena-balap-liar-jepang

https://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fast_and_the_Furious:_Tokyo_Drift

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0463985/trivia/
