         <description><![CDATA[<p>This picture shows the evolution of a human through gradual changes in characteristics. The type of evolution in this picture is an example of macroevolution as the developments lead to a new species. Due to natural selection, the favored characteristics survive and reproduce. These genes pass down to new generations. Evolution occurs due to the species ability to adapt. Each time the next generation evolves, they learn to adapt to their environment. Adaptability is why we see different traits evolve through the process. The gradual evolution of this population leads to speciation, which is when a new, distinct species forms from evolution.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>According to <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9830988/">Escherichia Coli: What Is and Which Are? - PMC</a>, Escherichia Coli, also known as E. Coli, is a prokaryotic organism that actually serves an important role. E. coli was used as a model to explain the main features of evolution, along with genetics, molecular biology, and pathogenesis. E. coli has distinguished characteristics that differentiate it from other enteric species. The main characteristics that differentiate E. coli are that it is lactose and catalase. E. coli is a bacterium that has lots of different strains. Due to the various strains of E. coli, it had to be split up into six different species. Every strain assigned to 'Shigella', a closely related genus to E. coli, shows up inside the variation of E. coli. Shigella is known to have formed from E. coli, but was able to maintain its status as a different genus for studies. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Depending on the location and surroundings, there will be more monocots or dicots seen. Grass, which is grown almost everywhere, including yards, parks, and fields, is a monocot. However, dicots can be seen more in gardens. Most vegetables used daily, including tomatoes, carrots, beans, and spinach, are all dicots. Most wildflowers seen driving down the road are dicots. If a flower has petals in multiples of three, it is likely a monocot. Dicots have petals in multiples of four or five. Overall, the location will determine when more monocots or dicots will be seen.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Mollusca phylum is the largest marine phylum and the second largest phylum of the invertebrates. It contains twenty-three percent of all named marine animals. The phylum Mollusca contains animals referred to as Mollusks. This phylum is extremely diverse in size and complexity. The Mollusk species contains bivalves, snails, octopuses, clams, and relatives. Some shared features of these species are that they are bilaterally symmetrical, they have soft, unsegmented bodies, and they have a mantle. A mantle is a fold in the body wall that creates the shell. Some mollusks pose a threat to humans, such as octopuses. Octopuses have venom that is very dangerous to humans.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Homeostasis is how your body keeps its internal systems balanced so they function the way they are supposed to. Your body functions best when things like temperature, oxygen, and water levels stay within a healthy range. The word "homeostasis" comes from Greek roots meaning "equal" and "steady," which describes the idea of keeping your body's internal environments stable. This balance is important because too much or too little of anything can be harmful, including water and oxygen. The "hypothalamus" runs the automatic homeostatic processes. There are negative and positive feedback homeostasis. Negative feedback includes blood pressure, body temperature, fluid balance, and oxygen levels. Positive feedback can include labor and delivery and blood clotting. You cannot survive without homeostasis because when you get hurt or sick, your body adjusts its homeostatic process so you can heal.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The article I read was over continuous glucose monitoring for blood glucose regulation. I learned that using continuous glucose monitoring along with self- regulation education can help how people manage diseases such as diabetes. The study showed that people who used continuous glucose monitoring improved their healthy habits and had lower HbA1c levels overtime. Continuous glucose monitoring gives people real-time information about their blood sugar. This helps them to monitor how their eating, exercising, and stress affect their blood sugar levels. The articled explained that self- regulation means keeping track of actions and making the correct changes to reach your health goals. I also learned that even though the use of medication did not change much, people using continuous glucose monitoring felt more confident about their health. This article explains how combining technology with correct education can leave lasting improvements in people's health.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Tropical Rainforests are located near the equator and are home to half the world's species. Tropical rainforests stay wet due to the abundant amount of rain they get, which often exceeds 200 cm per year. These rainforests are also known for staying warm year-round with high levels of humidity, which makes it feel even hotter. Tropical rainforests are known to be one of the most biodiverse areas on Earth due to being home to various species. They are home to many different species because of the heavy rainfall and easy access to nutrients. Despite the large amounts of vegetation, tropical rainforests actually have poor soil quality due to rapid decomposition and nutrient uptake by plants. Tropical rainforests have multiple layers, including the emergent layer, understory, and forest floor. Each of these layers hosts different species within it.</p>]]></description>

The main types of biodiversity are Species diversity, Genetic diversity, and Ecosystem diversity. Species diversity is the variety of different species within a particular area or ecosystem. Genetic diversity is the variation in genes within a species. Ecosystem diversity is the variety of ecosystems in a given area, such as forests, wetlands, deserts, and coral reefs. Biodiversity is important because it contributes to the stability of ecosystems. Biodiversity also has cultural significance; many communities rely on biodiversity for their livelihoods and traditions.</p>]]></description>
