Here, the army of Governor Jose de La Serna fought against the patriots commanded by Antonio Jose de Sucre. The Spaniards attacked from Kondolcunca. The Peruvian division commanded by José de La Mar fought to contain them and forced them to retreat with the help of Marcelino Carreño's montoneros. The division of José Maria Córdoba repelled the attack of the new reality. Then, the governor himself, Russelna, entered into combat with his troops, but in the fierce conflict, he was wounded and captured. This demoralized Spain and caused many to flee. General José de Cantrac tried to regroup them, but was thwarted by Jacinto Lara and Guillermo Miller.
