When John Coffey is accused of rape and murder he is brought to Cold Mountain Penitentiary. Later, the head guard Paul Edgecomb discovers Coffey's secret capabilities and he is able to change the lives of everyone involved with the prison. I really enjoyed this book because it had a range of very interesting characters. Without veering off too much from the plot, the reader is introduced to each character's backstory in detail, and I find it important to feel like you're on a personal level with the characters you're reading about.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11566.The_Green_Mile

Madeline Whittier suffers with a very rare immune system disease that prevents her from ever going outside. When she falls in love with the new next door neighbor named Olly, her life is completely changed forever, as she begins to question her purpose in life if she can never see the world and its beauty. I really loved this book because I was going through a really dark time in my life and the messages it sent through Maddy's thoughts really related to me and made me think about all the beauty around me, so it really changed the way I perceived things.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18692431-everything-everything

Charlie was a naive freshman entering high school for the first time. Unaware of what was to come, he meets two seniors named Charlie and Sam with who he takes on the deep exploration of life. Charlie learns how to be comfortable with himself while embracing the struggle of his past and the obstacles placed throughout his life. After reading this book, I feel not only that it is my favorite book, but that it has interchanged my perspective on life itself.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22628.The_Per

ks_of_Being_a_Wallflower

The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

In one of Rick Riordan's most frequent adventure novels, he makes a return to Greek mythology and revisits original characters from his Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. The Greek God Apollo has been thrown from Olympus to be punished in the mortal form of a teenage boy named Lester Papadopoulos. This story follows Apollo and Meg McCaffrey, his demigod sidekick's, journey to help Apollo become a God once again. I loved reading this book because I enjoy Rick Riordan's writing style, and I love the fast paced adventures and battles, as well as the complex and loveable characters that he created within this story.
https://www.theguardian.com/childrens-books-site/2016/may/19/trials-of-apollo-the-hidden-oracle-rick-riordan-review

John Dies at the End by David Wong

Starting with a promise that, whether or not you believe him, what he is telling you is absolutely, 100% true, a man under the pseudonym David Wong tells a story about soy sauce, (a supposed hallucinogenic drug that may or may not allow you to see into parallel universes, the future, and the things that are always there, like the shadows in the corner of your eye that vanish as soon as you turn and the thing you swear you saw run across your floor, but it was gone before you could notice it), his friend John, and how they may or may not have saved the world from something they're not even sure really existed in the first place. This book is definitely one of my favorites that I've ever read -- it's an extremely vulgar (mostly language-wise), complicated, dark comedy, so it's not everyone's cup of tea, but the story is so interesting and it feels amazing to figure out what's happening alongside the characters. The book is bizarre, weird, and perfect in every way.
http://www.fantasybookreview.co.uk/David-Wong/John-Dies-at-the-End.html
