I chose this photograph because it exemplifies the amount of creativity and time it takes to effectively transform into the character you choose. In this photo, a strong vibrant color is utilized in a cohesive manner between the car and the model. Additionally, the use of texture provides depth and a sense of the layers used to create her character and make her seem all the more authentic.

Tolkien is a constant underlying theme within the series. It's inscription, translated, means: One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them, One ring to bring them all and In the darkness bind them. The ring originally represented power and control over others, but grew to serve as a symbol of unity for the people of the Middle Earth. I am interested in this topic not only because of my heritage, but because I feel it is very important that the history of this era not be forgotten or diminished in impact over time. This was a very dark period in time for all of mankind, Jewish or not. The image on this post is a photograph of The International Monument, dedicated in 1968, at the Dachau Concentration Camp.

Supper at Emmaus
Italy,1601,Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio
Location- The National Gallery
Medium: Oil on canvas

Caravaggio, in contrast to a tempestuous and rebellious personal life, was often commissioned to create works of religious art in early 17th century Italy. Supper at Emmaus is inspired by the moment that Jesus revealed himself to two of his disciples following his crucifixion. His depiction of Jesus is unique in that he is beardless, and rather than a direct halo of light behind him, the background shadows encircle his head. Caravaggio's use of light and depth gives the impression that the characters are extended into the viewer's space, drawing them into the scene. Emphasis is placed upon the symbolism of thestill life on the table, as well as upon the intensity of the emotions of the disciples.

Florida Center for Instructional Technology.(n.d.). Zyclon B cans. Retrieved from http://fcit.usf.edu/Holocaust/gallfr2/FAUSC28.htm
For my theme of art produced in, or revolving around the Holocaust, I feel that this image would be important to use in my display because it carries an enormous emotional impact. The cans in this image once held the gas used to exterminate living humans. They appear so small in relation to the horror they unleashed, but the fact that there are piles of them accumulated speaks volumes. The systematic and relentless killing of Jews, Gypsies, handicapped, homosexuals, and other undesirable individuals was a evil of such magnitude that it is understandably difficult to wrap one's head around it. For me, I am fearful that this feeling of not being able to comprehend the atrocities committed by the Germans may work against other's abilities to believe that it happened, and there is the danger always of history repeating itself. We need to be aware of history, and keep it alive so that it doesn't repeat itself.

Retrieved from https://www.columnfivemedia.com/15-examples-of-brand-visual-identity

Rogue, a beer brand from Oregon, is part of the movement promoting transparency in food (or in this case, drink) origin and production. Similar to the farm-to-table concept many food companies and restaurants are employing to entice conscientious buyers and patrons, Rogue follows a wholesome, detail-oriented approach. They grow a fair amount of their own ingredients, or rely upon reliable local sellers. A large part of their identity is nature-based. The names of their beverages are often nature-related, and are usually humorous, which makes them instantly recognizable and appealing. The art used on their bottles is hand-created, and the advertisements and marketing that they employ follows the "farm fresh" theme.

As I was working on editing a collection of photographs that I had taken, I came across this picture of a formal garden that I took in the late Fall. I find the linear starkness and lack of texture of the bare trees in the background to be a counterpoint for the more rounded and lush foliage that remains in the foreground. The geometric shapes of the stone fencing and the lack of color in the background all contribute to the sense of barrenness. In comparison, the garden in the foreground still contains some color and life, and the circular sculpture, with the circular planting bed beneath it, create a focal point.
