After reading your text for today, post under your reading title a takeaway, a question, a quote that stood out or a reflection you have. Your post-it response should be at least 3 sentences. After you post, read other student leaders' posts and "like" those that you connect to.

I read the Danger of a Single Story. The reason I liked this article is because I feel like we ALL have different parts and stories of our lives, and we are not as simple as ONE single story. When someone tells ME my story, I always feel like they don't fully understand me. My hope, after reading this article, is that I TOO am curious about and open to the perspectives of others. Please give this a read! It will help you better understand the people in your life.

Hello, my name is Rheya, and I'm knowledgeable more about Emotional Intelligence. This is relevant to me since I am self-conscious. I'm also not afraid to make emotional errors. I discovered that only 2% of the 83 Proformers are aware of their own self awareness. I am able to see and look at people and understand by there words and body. I may not know what they are going threw but being self awere can help me see what they are feeling. Emotions always have a purpase.

The article public narrative is about connecting three core elements of leadership, it’s challenge (write about things you had to go threw), choice (what were your choices, what where your emotions), and outcome (why you chose that over the other thing and what was the turn out). This isn’t a quote but it is something that stuck out to me, “Leadership is about excepting responsibility for enabling others to achieve purpose in the face of uncertainty.” Another thing that suck out to me was, “Public leadership requires the use of the both head and the heart to mobilize others to act efficiently on behalf of shared values.” If you also resonate to these words please read the article.

There are 4 emotional intelligence skills and they pair up under two competencies which are Personal Competencies and Social Competencies. Personal Competencies means you have self awareness and self management skills, you focus more on yourself individually more than your interactions with other people, and you stay aware of your emotions and manage your behavior and tendencies. Social Competencies means you have the ability to evaluate social situations and determine what is expected or required and also means your can recognize the feelings and intentions of others. Personally, I feel like actors use these competencies to match the characters they are performing as. - Ryah Davis

In this story I read about Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. She was an early writer and reader at the ages 2-7. She often read American and British books that described their characters as blue eyed, how they played in the snow, talked about the weather, and eating apples. So once she started writing her own books she described her characters just like how the British and American books did. But since she lives in Nigeria she realized how people in the foreign books weren’t like her people. Chimamanda then discovered African books and as she read she realized that people like her can also be in books. I also read about when she moved into university in America her roommate was quick to assume things about Chimamamda just because of her race and where she came from.

Integrity means doing the right thing when no one is watching. For example if the teacher steps out of the classroom and everybody is off task just playing around then that is not showing integrity and you can lose the teachers trust.

Integrity is being a person who is strong on their moral principles. Part of having integrity is more than professing your values, it’s practicing them and not taking the easy route to meet a goal. Having integrity is being honest with people. When your honest, you gain people’s trust. Integrity is a high valued trait we seek in everyone.

To me, trust is a long process of learning how to rely on someone. I like what the reading kinda implied, that trust is worked on (that’s just kinda what I got, you might have thought something different, idk), because it is. You don’t just walk up to someone and instantly expect them to trust you, trust is something that is built up over a long period of time. An example could be making new friends. At first, you don’t really trust them. But, as you slowly become closer friends you start to trust them more.
