Hoʻōla Naʻau, meaning “to heal the mind and heart,” is a meditation and mindfulness program developed and facilitated by Hui o Kahawai I Ka Poʻo Poʻo, a community-rooted organization whose mission is to foster a disease-free, regenerative lifestyle through community education, environmental stewardship, cultural preservation and character development. The program will be offered three times per week and is designed to support and enhance the success of participants preparing for or already engaged in Chaminade University of Honolulu's Higher Education in Prison (HEP) program, which offers degrees in the humanities and liberal arts to those who are incarcerated. It aims to empower individuals to reconnect with their deeper sense of purpose, expand their perspectives, and cultivate life-affirming goals—so they may reenter society with renewed clarity, confidence, and contribution.

By integrating meditation & mindfulness into the weekly schedule, the program aims to strengthen focus, reduce emotional stress, and improve learning outcomes in educational programming. Participants will learn meditation & mindfulness techniques, breath work, and gentle movement practices rooted in trauma-informed care integrated with culturally sensitive curriculum.
