The disease atopic dermatitis was first discovered in ancient Egypt when it was known as ebers papyrus.

The suspected infectious agent of the disease atopic dermatitis is a bacterium known as staphylococcus aureus. Aureus is the leading cause of skin and soft tissue infections

The type of disease atopic dermatitis is a type of disease called dermatitis. Dermatitis is a type of disease that causes inflammation, redness, and irritation of the skin.

Atopic dermatitis is not a contagious disease. Therefore, atopic dermatitis can not be spread. However, atopic dermatitis can spread to other parts of the body of the diseased person such as the hands, neck, elbows, ankles, knees, feet, face, and ears.

What was the timeline of the spread?
Atopic dermatitis is not a contagious disease. Therefore, atopic dermatitis can not be spread. However, since 1997 the percentage of those who are diseased has gone up from 8% to 12%.

Approximately how many people were affected (illness and/or death)?
As of 2022 around 223 million are diseased with atopic dermatitis and around 43 million of the diseased are aged 1-4.

The disease atopic dermatitis is virulent because the disease infects the skin cells causing the disease to spread throughout the deceased person's skin.

I do think that society has learned from the physical effect of the disease Atopic Dermatitis as there has been many accommodations applied for those who suffer from the disease Atopic Dermatitis especially among the skin care community.
