In major cities Homelessness has always been a very large problem that seems unsolvable. The city of Seattle has the 3rd highest number of homeless people reaching 11,000+ with a rate of 1.59%. Which I have seen in person. For many reasons homeless people tend to migrate together to where it seems like they have built their own community. This is seen as deviant because there is a stigma that homeless people always increase danger and bring the quality of it's surroundings down.

Homeless Communities are generally created in order to create a safer place for homeless people to live. The act of people migrating together makes it a behavior. They are deliberately creating pockets throughout cities where they can feel more safe from people who want to harm them.

Out of the three S's Selection fits homeless communities the best. This is because they intentionally create these communities even though they are seen as deviant. Many areas will kick out homeless people and call law enforcement if they become too crowded. The homeless people knowing that they are not allowed to bunch up on streets regardless of if its for safety or not makes it intentional. Which is why they fall under selection.

For homeless people I believe they follow the Social Constructionist/Relativist conception. Homeless communities are not always seen as deviant. When I was in Seattle and saw a large amount of homeless people grouped up in communities, I did not once see them as deviant. Instead I saw them as people struggling that need help. However, homeless communities are part of the Relativist conception because depending on your experience with homeless people or jus the way cities view them creates a deviant stigma around them. Of course there are some good and some bad apples in the homeless communities, they are only seen as deviant because they do not have the same opportunities that everyone else has. When someone has a negative view on homeless people, that is was makes it deviant.

Homeless communities tend to follow blemishes of individual character. This is because in homeless communities Drug addiction is very common as well as unemployment. Both of these fall under blemished of individual character because it controlled by their "weak will" or mentality. Homeless communities are Discredited. This is because if you were to see a group of tents out on the side of the street you were immediately assume they are homeless. Same for if you saw someone sleeping in an ally way. For the two additional ideas from Goffman I am using the idea of the Wise and Passing. There are many people who see homeless people and try to avoid them. However, there are many "Wise" people who understand what they are going through so they offer them food and sometimes money. As for Passing, people who have recently lost their home and are forced onto the street try there best to pass in society so then they are more accepted by their careers. Some homeless people try to come across as if they aren't homeless so then they get better treatment from others and possibly land a job. This would be seen as living a "Double Life".

Homeless communities are commonly rejected by society. They are commonly frowned upon by individuals who see them as lazy even though many are just in a bad situation. Also, company buildings tend to kick them off the streets by taking legal action against homeless people sleeping Infront of their buildings. However, their are a few positive outcomes. People have come together and started movements in order to try and better the life of homeless people.

Deviants view of their behavior

The way homeless people view their behavior differs from person to person. Mentality is really the main driving factor on their view point on their own deviance. Those who wish to better themselves view their deviance as a one time aberration. While homeless people are addicted to drugs or simply don't try to better their situation tend to see their life style as permanent. Which makes it a deviant career.
