Hot Buttons Presentation

This presentation was done as a part of the training. My co-presenter, Ellie, and I had to lead the group with a powerpoint presentation accompanied by interactive activities. We went over the definition of a hot button, discussed verbal and non-verbal cues, and discussed key takeaways and thoughts. We decided to do an activity where our other fellow interns would role-play and act out situations where PDL's would respond to hot button situations. The presentation went smoothly and we received a lot of great feedback!

Confrontive Behaviors Presentation

I completed this presentation solo! To keep it interactive, I did it game-show style, where the other interns got into teams and competed against each other to earn points for the correct answer. They looked at potential scenarios that could happen during Common Ground Dialogue. Then, they had to pick the best solution moving forward specifically using confrontive behaviors.

This final presentation summarized the overall experience of my internship. I presented with my co-facilitator during Common Ground, Natalie Davis. We reflected upon each of the four dialogue sessions, looking at what went well and what could have gone better. We also presented our learning outcomes, strengths, and weaknesses. The purpose of this presentation was for our own growth and development, but also to give the coordinators feedback.

Every week, I would have to submit a short reflection paper about my experience training. This prompt asked about the type of discussant behaviors I have encountered as a participant, and which ones I am worried about when I become a Peer Dialogue Leader.
