Example: Outside view of the pink palace house in the other world. This shot includes flowers on the front porch and fairy lights flowing throughout the front garden and around the house, making the shot feel and look homely and magical. The lights in this shot makes the scene glow as the rest of the background is a dark night, also making the house look like a home. The front garden looks well maintained, adding to the "perfect" world idea.

Mise-en-scene is everything in the movie took in shots. this is inside the new house in the other world that she found and as we can see she getting served by her other mum which sets a nicer intention at the start.  This contrbutes to our audiences understanding on how there is another world and there is another mother that comes across nice towards the start and getting towards the end she just shown her true colors on how evil she is.  This new mum that coralline has came across is more warm as she treats coralline with nicer food and good.

Acting - Acting helps the audience to understand what the character's intentions are and how they are thinking of going through with their intentions. For example in the movie the other mother pretended to be the perfect mother and that she didn't have any ulterior motives when she created a perfect world for Coraline, but she really  wanted Coraline's eyes and to keep her there forever so that she can "love" her forever.
Sound - Sound can help the audience to see what ideas are trying to be conveyed within the film. In the beginning there is a scene of someone preparing a doll, you can hear the backtrack of a gentle song as it matches the quiet activity of sewing and helps to create an eerie feeling as you don't see a human hand doing so, you see a hand made out of needles. Caroline acts like that she will listen to her second mother but in the end she betrayed her.

sound can express the mode the director want to give to the audience. sometimes if there's a cheerful music playing it is probably expressing a happy feeling. but if its really fast music playing, it expresses that the character might be in trouble.
acting is a very important part of the movie too. audience can indicate what every character is trying to do in the movie.

This makes the audience understand that the other mother is not as good as we originally thought she would be.   sound: The sound in Coraline would signify  the mood of the scene indicating if the particular scene was negative or positive. This includes: High Angles, Low Angles, POV (Point of View) shots and canting shots.
Example of Canting:
This is a canting shot because you can see the frame is on an angle and it is "skewed" and this makes it a canting shot.
Example of POV:
This is a POV shot because it is meant to be what Coraline is seeing from her own perspective and that makes it a POV shot. 
All camera angles contribute to the film and understanding of it as they are used to put things into perspective and emphasize it. Angles such as POV shots are used to give an insight into the film that the audience would not have otherwise. High and low angles are used to make the subject of the frame either bigger/smaller/more powerful/less powerful.
Camera angles contribute to Coraline in most ways angles contribute to any other film.

- Mise en scene is everything that is in the shot. 
-Coraline's bedroom in the real world is empty and hasn't been decorated, but in the other world it has pink walls and nice bed sheets. This makes the audience know that the other world is better and nicer then the real world. Making the scene look warmer and pinker makes Coraline feel nicer. In the other bedroom it is more empty and colder because of the colour and the lack of decorating in the room.

This is a close up shot of the other mother. It has been deliberately placed and edited in a way to convey an impression from the audience. Close up shots represent the emotion of the character and display the details of the face. In this image the viewer is first introduced to the other mother in a close up shot which shows the audience that she appears to look happy and kind, whilst also looking unusual and a bit creepy since she has buttons for eyes. This image has been deliberately edited to make the other mother appear this way and to enable the audience to get this impression from the image of the other mother.

The other Mother and Father act throughout the movie in the beginning when in the presence of coraline. Until the other mothers character transformed to her original self. This gives the impression on Coraline as well as the audience that the other world is all it seems and supposedly the perfect place for Coraline to be.                                                                                                       Sound: Use of sound varies throughout the movie and helps to manipulate the emotions and events of what's happening in the scene, for example: when Coraline first visit's the other world, the music played as she entered was cheerful and of a happy nature appose to later on in the film when Coralines stuck with other mother and their encounters begin with background sound of built up tension and suspense. The high angle implies power or insight as the audience looks down on Coraline in this scene and the long shot helps to make Coraline look small and inferior to the audience. - In the real world, the garden at the Pink Palace is empty and dull. In the other world, the garden is full of plants and colour that, when zoomed out, makes Coraline's face. Camera techniques include the quality, position, speed, movement, angle and point of view in a shot.

Example:
This shot includes the other world pink palace, Coraline, and the cat. The camera angle is low to show all three subjects, and to make the house seem large and looming as Coraline and the cat face the other mother. It is a long shot to establish the setting of the scene and to include the three subjects.

What this production element contributes to the audiences understanding:
The camera angles and shots determine what the audience sees in each scene and what they are aware of.
