I started on the Wall's case after being called in about a 3 year old female who got severely burned. She was cooking her own hotdogs with boiling water on a stove. She also didn't have any adult supervising her while this happened. Jeanette had told the nurses that she would "turn on the stove, and when the water was boiling, [she'd] drop in the hot dogs" (page 11). She had also told the nurses that her mother lets her cook for herself a lot. Letting a 3 year old cook for herself and do it often doesn't sounds very safe or healthy.

"Mom said he had fallen off the back of the couch and cracked his head on the floor, but she and Dad had decided not to take him to the hospital" (Walls 13).
This is a weakness because they thought that having one kid in the hospital was enough even though their own son cracked his head open and was bleeding all over the place. They just tried to joke about it and move on.

Mr. Walls threw their own cat out of the window because their cat 'didn't like to travel'. And when Jeanette started crying, Mrs. Walls didn't even comfort her and told her to be less sentimental and that they could always just get another cat.

The dad was "hollering at Mom, calling her a 'stupid whore' and a 'stinking cunt'" and also he "shot forward towards Mom, who screamed and jumped out of the way" (Walls 43). The father and mother constantly fight and use language that isn't appropriate for their children to hear. Mr. Walls also almost hit his pregnant wife with a car while they were fighting.

He then proceeded to drive away from the cops making many illegal maneuvers and putting his children in danger. Mr. Walls shouldn't be teaching his children to run away from the cops if you do something illegal and then proceed to make more illegal actions.

This helped the family immensely with paying bills, getting food, and living normally at one place. "Dad almost never went out drinking at night like he used to. He stayed home with us" (Walls 56). Mr. Walls got a job and started to be a better father for his whole family.

While in a fight "Mom's feet appeared in the window, followed by the rest of her body. She was dangling from the second floor...'Help!' Mom screamed. 'He's trying to kill me!'" (Walls 71). This is scarring for their children to see them get into such a big fight and see their mom almost die. Mr. Walls was endangering Mrs. Walls life in an argument.

Instead of staying there and going to court, they left town yet again. Mr. Walls discussed with Mrs. Walls and decided "We're going to Phoenix...Tonight" (Walls 89). This is showing their children that it is okay to leave to avoid getting arrested. This type of behavior isn't okay to teach your young children.

"So he would open a bank account, and a week or so later, he would withdrawal all the money from a teller inside the bank while Mom withdrew the same amount from the drive-through window" (Walls 111). "No one tried to wring Dad's neck or yell at him or even point out that he'd ruined the Christmas his family had spent weeks planning---the Christmas that was supposed to be the best one we'd ever had" (Walls 115). Mr. Walls cam home drunk on Christmas night and ruined the best Christmas his family was going to have, and spent weeks planning for him and each other. Mr. Walls didn't even care he had ruined Christmas, he just laughed on the couch and watched it all go down.
