"The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto" Mitch Albom

Impressions📚: I don’t know how Mitch Albom does it (for the third time in my case) but everytime he manages to make me cry from different kinds of emotions overwhelming me upon reading his books. This one was not an exception. “The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto” is an amazing story of an extraordinary musician’s life. We get a chance to live his life with him: since his early childhood till his senior years. Sometimes all the coincidences are just mind blowing: some of them make you fall into funk, while the others make you rejoice with happiness. Moreover, the book lets you have a glimpse of music at its best. You will find everything here: famous names, which exploded the music industry, the geniuses of creation, the rise to fame and the fall into oblivion. Sometimes you will even hear the music playing in your head while reading. If it’s not marvelous then what is? Even though Francisco is 100% fictional, for me he was 100% real. He is a depiction of Music, Talent, Love and Belief.
⠀
The End📔: Leaves you sad but calm.
⠀
Pleasures📒: Music
⠀
Potential readers📑: Music lovers, believers and high-achievers
⠀
Achtung!📓: Tearforming

"Defending Jacob" William Landay

Title: Defending Jacob

Genre: Fiction, mystery, thriller

Year: 2012

Language: English

Author: William Landay

Plot: Andy Barber has been an assistant district attorney in his suburban Massachusetts county for more than twenty years. He is respected in his community, tenacious in the courtroom, and happy at home with his wife, Laurie, and son, Jacob. But when a shocking crime shatters their New England town, Andy is blindsided by what happens next: His fourteen-year-old son is charged with the murder of a fellow student.

Impressions: I read the book after having watched the TV-series of the same name. I was looking for some clues to understand the motives of the characters, and to have some clarity as for the ending. The interesting thing is that even though I had previously watched the TV-series and had already known the plot, it still attracted my attention and I was deep in the book. It was gripping to say the least.
The End: It was quite surprising. Having watched the TV-series, I didn’t expect it, I didn’t expect it at all. I hoped to find the answers, I haven’t done it though. Not sure how I feel about it.

Pleasures: It’s a classic piece full of suspense. What can be better?

Potential readers: Detective thriller lovers, those who don’t mind the open final and won’t be irritated by it, those who love to solve puzzles all by themselves.

Achtung!: Murder, animal cruelty, offences, violence

Rating:

Goodreads: 3,99 out of 5

Kinoknigomania: 5 out of 5
