What Thoreau is trying to say here is that people, if they choose, should go on their own path and live the life they want. You control your own destiny. Also, if you live life more simply, the world and everything around you will be less stressful. You will appreciate nature and the things you need even more. At 16 years old, I have only dreams for my near future. The next few years are very important because they will decide where I'm going and What I'm doing for the rest of my life. One of my dreams is graduating high school and moving on to a 4 year university. Not only that, I also dream that I can continue my running career at a Division I or II School. Living "Deliberately" can help me achieve my dreams/goals. First, I've got to make the best of my time in High School. I should challenge myself with my classes, get the work done, but while also having fun in my extracurricular activities. I just need to remember that my actions now can have a big impact on my future. If I just apply myself 100% now in everything I do, it will really pay off in my future.

Henry David Thoreau's view on society wasn't a super negative one, he just sees a few things that need to be fixed. The author explains that society has mostly lost it's sense of individuality and almost everybody wants to conform to societal norms. The author would like to see others be different because being different isn't necessarily a bad thing.
From my perspective. I also see a few things that are wrong with society. We are making progress in not conforming to societal norms because the acceptance of people who are "different" is becoming greater. One of Society's biggest issues today is that us teens can still be easily influenced. That’s not always a bad thing because they’re are many great role models out there. Despite that, they’re are some “bad apples” that kids shouldn’t follow but still do. When kids do stuff, their friends will do what they do because everybody wants to fit in. Another problem in society today is that we allow politics to divide us and that creates unnecessary and ugly tension. in society though there are a of of things that unite us all and we have to remember that. We can't let the ugly stuff divide us apart from each other.

Before my journey, I probably would have put a lot of thought and time into my decision to go somewhere far and never return. There will be other people who won't want me to go but if I've already made my decision I probably would not be able to do a face to face goodbye. To say goodbye. I would probably say goodbye to my family and best friends by sending them a letter before I left.
On my journey. there are many things I would need to bring in order to survive is a first aid kit to treat myself in case of any injury along my journey. I would bring with me potable water and non perishable food to start out. I also would need to bring books on how to survive out in the vast wilderness. I'm not sure if I have anything at the moment that is super important to me that'd I would bring it along with me on the trip. I won't bring my phone or any technology because the one of the reasons why I'm going into the woods is because I want to disconnect myself from society.

"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer." (Thoreau). I believe this quote means that anyone who seeks going on their own path has something different in mind then everybody else. This is also a quote that emphasizes non conformity and confidence. When someone is not keep pace with their companions, they could be seen as slow or not normal. That's not the case, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. We all have different things we want to happen in our future. If someone hears a different drummer, it may mean they have another passion they want to pursue instead of their current one. I guess I heard the sound of a different drum when I decided to part ways with the football team back in the summer of 2016. I loved playing football, I love watching it (Go Giants! and Congrats to Philly!). Since Day 1 of practice though, I knew that this wasn't where I was supposed to be. My parents supported my decision to leave the team and so did my friends. I was different from my friends because I wasn't playing football with them anymore. It's understandable that we all have different likes and interests. I didn't get any negative reactions, people are very understanding if you just sit down and talk with them about any issue you may have.

After reading Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken", I am remembering some choices in my life that seemed to change almost everything for me. One decision that's changed my life for the better was joining the cross country team in my freshman year. A lot of good things have happened since then. I've met new friends on the team and at all the cross country meets we go to. I'm also a much healthier person from all the running that we do. Running definitely makes you feel better, it gives you confidence and mental toughness. When you're running, it lets you forgot abiut anything that may be bothering you. It's just Me (and my teammates), and the open trail right in front of you. Very transcendentalist, right? We mostly try to avoid running on the roads and instead we run in parks. Most of the parks we go to are very beautiful. You're definitely in a state of serenity when you're running in them, admiring the fall colors of the trees and feeling the cool sunshine on your skin. I would not change anything about my decision to join cross country. I'm so glad I have a team to run with. In my sophomore year, this is just the beginning so far. Will this choice of mine help me in life? Definitely!

I didn't know until now that one of my favorite Disney movies is a great example of Transcendentalist ideas. To give you a brief summary, Wreck it Ralph tells the story of Ralph who is tired of being the bad guy in the arcade universe. He wants to be a hero but society (or in this case, the arcade universe) won't let him. Society and corruption is something that Emerson has talked about. In the movie, Ralph is trying to break societal norms by freeing himself from his bad guy role. Another example of non conformity is the way Ralph is breaking the rules, but he means no harm. Ralph is trying to go into these different games trying to look for the hero role that he wants. Ralph is a very self reliant guy to. Sadly the arcade universe sees him as an outcast and he has to get by by himself.
