Throughout the cycle of individuals the mouse encounters, he ultimately gains companionship as his new found friends follow him in his "egg" journey. The part of the book that I really enjoyed was the fact that almost every animal who the mouse approached didn't have an egg. Instead, the animals in return offered something from their homes that they were willing to share (sugar, apples, raisins, butter, etc.).At the end of his string of friends, the mouse finally found someone who had an egg.
