Gabriela Martinez A01177235
In this last part of the project we had the opportunity to talk and see the point of view of an expert, which was Alejandro Lozano. Many subjects were discussed in the virtual session we had, and there are many things that I learned. The main topic that we studied was immigration in Europe. It is estimated that by 2030 and 2050 Europe will be a Muslim continent, and this has to do with all the terrorist attacks that Europe has been suffering from. Birth rates in Europe are highly decreasing, and Italy is the country with the lowest birth rate which is 1.1%. Women in Europe don’t want to have babies, and the ones who do are most likely above 40 years. People in Spain don’t want to get married as well because when couples are divorced the woman takes 100% of the belongings. I believe this information is really concerning because if there is really low birth rate in Europe the economy will be most likely decreasing. It is estimated that 7,000 immigrants go to Italy weekly. Out of the 150,000 immigrants in Europe in 2017, more than 110,000 come to stay in Italy. Many European countries are willing to separate themselves from the European Union, but they don’t know that being in it benefices them way more rather than not being in it. The most looked up sentence in Google by the British this year was “What is Brexit?”, and this means that many British citizens voted to separate without even knowing what they were doing. According to Alejandro Lozano, Great Britain won’t be part of the European Union in 2019. The expert believes that the euro should be recognized more by European countries, since it is a worldwide used currency. We also discussed some refugee solutions and the one that I agreed the most is educating since elementary school the acceptance of immigrants. A clear example of why this should be done is because here in Mexico, Haitians and Africans are immigrating to Tijuana and people in there want them out and want them killed. I believe this ideas are extremely wrong and they should be changed so that the newer generations will learn to accept immigrants peacefully. Finally we discussed the topic of Euroscepticism, and Alejandro Lozano is against this ideology and he states that it is highly proved that belonging in the European Union has benefited countries way more that the ones who are not in it.

In conclusion, I believe that the project we did this semester was really creative and very original. The first stage of the project was choosing a current conflict in Europe and looking for news articles and videos explaining the issue we picked. I think that was the easiest part of the whole project because our team easily agreed on having the same topic, and having teammates that agreed with my opinions made the whole project really simple. The second stage was to find a primary source who could give us their point of view on the conflict we chose. In my opinion this stage was definitely the hardest stage, and this is because the conflict we chose was about Russia which isn’t a place we had a lot of contacts. Finally the third stage was the video call we had with Alejandro Lozano and I believe that this stage was the one that I learned the most from. I think that looking for an international issue and looking for experts about the topic in other places around the world was a very challenging project, but a really fun one.

The expert’s name is Alejandro Lozano he currently works representing Mexico in Italy. Today we talked to him and he talked about different topics. Here I will write what I learned and what his points of view are.The experts along with other experts predict that in 2030 and 2050 Europe will be a muslim continent due to the recent attacks on the continent. Due to all the terrorists attacks people are avoiding having children. The europeans who are having kids, are having them at a very old age which puts both the mother and the child at risk. The expert says that when people vote they don’t even know what the thing is, for example in the Brexit some people didn’t even vote. He also mentioned that the most googled thing in England on the day of the elections was “what is Brexit?”. He says that the biggest challenge in Europe is terrorism, because it is causing an overpopulation of refugees, also some countries don’t want to help the refugees and even some countries are considering getting out of the European Union. He thinks that the solution for all the refugees in Europe is respect and toleration to all the people. He believes that everyone should be taught to accept others because if not then there will be less toleration and those people can take to the extreme and begin to kill. The Vatican and the expert have studied and learned that 90% of the attacks on Europe have been source of a religious terrorists. The European will be outnumbered by the muslims also because many men are scared of getting married and have children because if they get a divorce the women will get 100% of everything. Europe is already trying to resolve this issue so in January they will decide how many refugees each country may have. Changing the topic the expert informed that recently the ISIS has been targeting the Vatican so many safety measures have been taken, but he also mentions that Europe will try fight ISIS without violence.

During third semester in Globalization we had the opportunity to learn and research about different issues in Europe, but we not only researched we also got to talk about the issue with a person from Europe. I thought that this project was really interesting because I felt that many of the issues in Europe are very different from the issues we have here. Even though I found this assignment interesting it was also challenging because we had to contact a person who lived in Europe. I found this difficult because I don’t know anyone from there so we had to look online, but some of those people didn’t even want to talk to us. Eventually we found some one but, denied a video call and a voice call so we had to text. Overall, this experience was very good because I realized that it is hard to learn a first person point of view on certain issues.

In the conference with the expert I learned some concepts and events that are currently happening in Europe. Right now in Europe there have been many terrorist attacks. He mentioned that there is a probability that in 2030 or 2050 Europe will be a Muslim continent. This impressed me a lot because most of Europe is a very Christian and Catholic continent, especially in Italy and it was very impressive to hear that there is a chance that in the future Europe will become a Muslim continent. He also said that Europe is the continent that has had the most terrorist attacks. He talk about Euroscepticism and said that he did not agree that the Soviet Union should be separated. He mention that one of the biggest problems in Europe is immigration, and that Italy was the country with the most immigrants from Europe. He says that this has been a very big problem because Italy can no longer help more immigrants but it continues to do it, so this is causing the birth rate in Italy to decrease very fast. At the end of the conference the teacher asked the expert what it was his opinion about that there have been many news where they publish that Russia has much to do with the presidency of Trump. To which he replied that Russia does not have a malicious intention to govern the world or anything like that, what Russia wants to achieve is to have alliances, that is something that any country is trying to achieve. It was very cool that he was very prepared with several topics and he was able to answer all the questions, I think it was a very good conference and he helped me to understand more about some topics that we saw in the class.

( 302 words )

After completing my project about the Islamic State inside Russia, I’ve learned many facts about ISIS such as, who are they, why do they want to expand their religion, who are they but, something that I notice and really came to my attention was that they attack sort of the same way everywhere they go but media just changes somes of the stories and news. This topic really makes me think about what’s going on today in the world and how was is it some decades and centuries ago during the wars. The world has changed but not everyone changed and they are still trapped on idea that they should do a war. I have reflected throughout the semester and I strongly believe that some people just don’t deserve to live the way they do, all this suffering is unhuman and no one should go through it. I really liked making this project specially because we had the opportunity to talk with an expert who lives where the problem is happening.

( 171 words )

The conference we had this Friday during class time covered many different topics that are going on or are going to happen in Europe. I believe this conference was a pretty intense and interesting talk since I noticed many things I didn't really noticed before. For example, it is estimated that in between 2030 and 2050 Europe will become about 100% muslim. During this conference I asked a question that had captivated me for some time (for as long as I have carried on this project). The question was: “¿Como controlas la discrimnación derivada gracias a los ataques terrroristas?”. I believe he has a really strong point since there is not only people who have gone through the inmigración process, but who have suffered from the non-acceptance the housing country gives them. People who are inmigrante should have policies to protect them from everything that goes on when you move from country to country. They should have protection in all living branches (economy, politics, social standards and basic needs). I believe what Alejandro said was completely accurate and should be implemented in the government’s politics and laws.

During this project my eyes opened. I literally got to see the other side to the life I’m living. I could see everything that is going on and that has gone already in the whole world. There is an extreme amount of terrorism and human trafficking and horrifying successions that not everyone know about. People should know the world that they live in and come to action. I believe that this project had left many things in me and has completely changed the way I think. I used to believe that terrorism was always the images shown in the News, yet I can conclude that there is many imagery that the society hides.
