Have you ever given a speech that changed our country? Martin Luther King Jr. did just that! He is my hero because he was intelligent, a great leader, and above all, brave. Martin Luther King Jr. graduated high school at the age of 15, obtained a B.A. degree, and was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 35 years old. These accomplishments show his intelligence which helped him become a great leader. While he has been described as “one of the most powerful black leaders of his era”, I think he was one of the most powerful black leaders ever. Martin Luther King Jr. was the first president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and he was also the leader of the bus boycott. As a black leader, he gave his “I Have a Dream” speech to a large crowd as an attempt to stop segregation. Giving this speech was brave because he could have been attacked. Luckily, this speech started the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Jr. is my hero because he was intelligent, a great leader, and brave. This information inspires me because of he accomplished so much at a young age. It also in me because he was very brave.
