         <description><![CDATA[<div>A great way to promote oral and aural development is through collaboration. There are a few things to consider within a classroom, however. Some things to consider may be: allotted time, speaking &amp; language proficiency levels, and homogeneous/heterogeneous grouping.&nbsp;<br><br>Heterogeneous grouping may be used for students of different language proficiency levels to promote collaboration and peer help. However, students with different native languages may struggle to collaborate, so this is a consideration to make.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are three tiers to vocabulary development and some examples:&nbsp;<br>Tier 1: basic words<br>- Book<br>- Girl<br>- Boy<br>- Sad<br>Tier 2: general/all-purpose academic words (high-utility words that cut across all academic content areas)<br>- Measure<br>- Fortunate<br>- Compare<br>Tier 3: content/domain-area specific words<br>- Economics<br>- Isotope<br>-Revolutionary War<br><br>*These tier words will also be changed within grade levels and profiency levels. A student in 2nd grade will not be learning about isotopes within their content areas. <br><br>A consideration towards this strategy of aural and oral development is that Tier 2 words are going to be the majority of what students need to know in order to comprehend instruction and texts across their academic content areas.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When EB/EL's are being taught reading instruction, there is going to be a transfer between their native language and the language being taught. This can be seen using skills:&nbsp;<br><br>- Word recognition skills acquired in L1 transferred to L2<br>- Positive transfer of vocabulary knowledge for cognate words<br>- Use spelling knowledge in L1 when they spell L2<br><br>One thing to consider is that there may be some common errors made with reading or spelling comprehension as a student is learning to transfer their skills.<br><br>The transferring of reading comprehension occurs in bilinguals of all ages and languages.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
