Reflection (Active Listening Ideas)

1. I would prefer the combination of the three- coursebook, authentic materials and sources from other books - because my students have different English levels and some tasks are not approprşate for them. Enriching the context and the activities with these extra mateeials will help me attract the attention and encourage them to involve the tasks.
2. The ideas about developing more active listening are appropriate for my classes since I need to differentiate the activities according to their levels. Furthermore I sometimes try to make the difference in listening tasks, to know the practical and useful techniques is going to make it far easier and effective.

1. Lack of confidence and motivation, fear of talking and making mistakes in fromt of people, not doing practice in English classes in primary or secondary schools, focusing on doing tests for LGS cause problems in speaking activities.
2. The ideas we have taken about maximixing speaking today are beneficial for the schools in my area. If all English teachers are able to use these specific techiques, I believe that we can overcome the difficulties/ problems in speaking activities. For instamce encouraging the students with authentic materials, digital tools, interesting topics, givimg feedback in an approprite way are useful and necessary for all levels in our classes.

Today our context was about a boy who is talented at art and design. His hobby changes his life and becomes his job.
From my point of view the most useful idea which was found by our colleagues was in post reading part. We wanted the students to prepare a poster in Canva about Carmania (What do they think about this hobby? Their ideas for whole text.) They should use at least 5 highligted words given before in while reading part as a matching words and definitions activity.
In PDC meetings I think my colleagus would like gallery walk a lot. We used this technique for comprehension questions of our text.

I think process approach to writing instruction would be the most appropriate in my local context because before procuding final writing product teachers should focus on planning, revising, rearranging, and producing multiple drafts. Lerners are encouraged to write freely. Furthermore feedback is more useful between drafts. Self correction and peer correction enhance students to understand their errors and give them chance to change them.
2. I think my colleagues would be more interested in group writing and correction code because I suppose that most English teachers don't know how to organize these kind of activities and they don' t use correction codes appropriately.

Grammar and Vocabulary

1.My colleagues would want to discuss implicit and explicit methods.Should grammatical rules be learned implicitly or explicitly? Most of my colleagues prefer explicit method beause they are used to teach in this way. Explicit grammar teaching is a traditional way. İn this method teacher gives the rules and has students drill separetely from the context.. On the other hand in implicit method students acquired the structures in a meaningful context and have them deduce the form.
2. In my opinion there is not a specific most effective idea. The most important thing is using the stages of teaching vocabulary. They are 1.showing visuals and eliciting 2 matching words for check 3.modelling drill 4. practice. If we know the steps we can easily adapt the activities and differentiate them according to the needs of students and target vocabulary given in the curriculum.

Formative Assessment

1. The biggest and most common problem related to assessment is that the teachers in my local area find formative assessment time-consuming. According to them quizes/exams are sufficient to measure the students' knowledge. Furthermore most teachers don't know how to use formative assessment tools effectively and efficiently.
2. Yrs I think self/peer assessment could solve some problems for stakeholders in different dimensions. For teachers it helps them monitor students' ongoing learning, gather evidence about their progress.Learners can provide their own potential.
If teachers know how to give instructions for self/peer assessment and how to give feedbak about them, the progress will be easier and fast. Without reflections it is hard to reach our learning outcomes. Self /peer assessment direct the teaching process and an important component of learning acquisition.
