I think the pros for the most part can outweigh the cons when it comes to taking loans out to pay for college. This is because the ROI can be a significant change in your life and you can potentially have a great job that would be worth it for your future. Sure you might be paying a lot at the moment but if you’re going somewhere that can help you get a good paying job then it will help you pay off the debt at a fast rate.

One concern I have about borrowing money for college is the fear of being in debt for many years after graduation. I worry that student loans could limit my financial freedom and make it harder to afford important things like a car, an apartment, or even traveling. I’m also concerned about interest rates making the total amount I owe even higher, especially if it takes me some time to find a steady, well-paying job.(75)

I think college is worth the cost, and a loan could be worth it too as long as you don't take out too much. Taking out a small loan to put you over on your school payments can help you out, but if you let it accumulate you could be stuck in debt for decades. However, if you stick with school and stay smart about the loans your taking out, the money you make from your career would make the cost worth it.

The concerns and fears that I have about borrowing money for college is that I am very ignorant regarding the topic of student loans. This is because my parents and I have never had a conversation about student loans. I am scared that I will be paying off my student loan until I am 60 years old. I am worried that I am going to chose the wrong college and accidentally sign my life away and obtain the worst loan possible.

I feel like I have something like a debt in the back of my mind; I wouldn't be able to focus at times. Especially in the beginning, I feel like I would be thinking about it all of the time. After college, I feel like it would obviously always bug me, and it could be a major setback if I were trying to do anything in my life.

Some concerns I have are taking on a significant amount of debt that may take years to pay off, and borrowing money for college can be kind of nerve racking. I'm concerned that high interest rates may cause the loan to expand more quickly than I can pay it back. People also worry that they won't be able to find a good paying job after graduation, which could make repayment challenging. My credit score could suffer if I miss payments. In general, borrowing money seems hazardous, but it's occasionally required to pay for school.

College gives you tons of new experiences whether it is meeting new people, seeing a new place, or trying new things. I also believe that college helps you build a strong connection for getting a job. You could get an internship through a college or get a letter of recommendation from one of your professors. College can also teach yourself how to survive on your own.

I do not want to fall into debt and pay back student loans that would take a long time to pay. Im scared of interest rates building up and making me pay a lot more money. If i go deep into this debt it would take me a lot longer to buy a house and car and other things that I need in life.

I firmly believe that college is with the cost even if it means borrowing money, I believe this because I feel that the value of the education you get from college and the knowledge you gain in your desired field of study outweighs the value of the loans you may have to take. If you are able to land a good, high-paying career after graduating from your preferred major, then it would make those potential student loans worth it as you are likely able to pay it off with ease.

I believe that the pros do outweigh the cons of taking out a student loan, as long as you're not burdening yourself with a bunch of them. The return on investment for your loan could be a lot more then what you paid, depending on your career and major. Without college, you could struggle for a long time if you don't find a good job. If you stick with college though and keep an eye on how much money you're borrowing, you could set yourself up for success for the rest of your life.

A question I would ask a financial aid advisor before accepting a loan would be “what’s the interest rate on the loan?”. If it’s a really high interest rate then I wouldn’t want to be paying all of that because that’s how it takes longer for someone to finish paying off their debt. I wouldn’t want to be paying for years because of some interest rate. I’d also ask if I have to reapply every year or if it’s a one time thing.

I feel like if you didn't work on reducing it at all, and you have to pay it fully, you aren't very smart. Why spend extra money if you possibly didn't have to? I feel like it is worth it to borrow money or to take out a loan if it is a manageable amount. If the loan is way too high and you know it will be hard to pay back, why get it in the first place? It's better if you go somewhere where you can either afford the tuition, or if the loan wouldn't be as much.

If the average person takes about 20 years then forget that. It’s not worth being 40 still paying off something because of a decision you made at 18.

One concern or fear I have about about borrowing money for college is that I will be stuck in a cycle of debt. I am nervous that my student loans will affect my life after college like getting a house, car, or any other large purchases. I fear if I get hit with tons of student debt my credit will be bad and I will be unable to fix it. Another fear I have is that I will not be able to get enough loans to pay for college.

I think the pros can outweigh the cons, but it really depends on the situation. Taking out a student loan can help you go to college when you couldn’t afford it otherwise, and getting a degree can lead to better job opportunities later. But the downside is ending up with a lot of debt that takes years to pay off. So, I think it’s worth it if you borrow smart and choose a career that helps you pay it back.

I already know that student loans are money borrowed to help pay for college that has to be paid back, usually with interest. There are different types, like federal loans from the government and private loans from banks or other lenders. I learned this information from AVID presentations about personal finance, talking to Miss Morales, and reading articles online about paying for college. I also heard about it from family and friends who have gone to college and used loans to help cover costs.

It can provide new perspectives and allow you to learn from new things around you to help better yourself. I think with the right support, student loans shouldn't be that hard to pay off. If you use your college experience to the fullest, I think you should be able to secure a well-paying job soon after college.

If your degree helps you get a good job that pays well, then the loans might be worth it in the long run. But if you borrow a lot for something that doesn’t lead to many job options, it might not be.

I already know about the two major types of student loans, subsidized and unsubsidized. Subsidized loans are sweet, and you don’t have to pay the interest, whereas for unsubsidized loans, they are not sweet because you have to pay interest on them. I learned this in my junior year in AVID. I also know that the amount of loans you take out for college, you will eventually have to pay back later on in your life. I know this from all the adults around me. For example, my sophomore year English teacher told my class that she had just finished paying off the student loans that she had taken out during her time in college. (115)

I believe college can be worth the cost, even if it means borrowing money, but it depends on several factors. College often leads to better job opportunities, higher salaries, and important skills for long-term career growth. However, it’s crucial to consider the type of degree, school costs, and potential return on investment. Borrowing should be done carefully, making sure the benefits outweigh the debt. If the degree supports a clear career path and marketable skills, the investment can pay off over time.

As far as I know, it can take a couple of years, to even a decade to pay off student loans, and I wouldn't to worry about paying off an expense from my college days- especially when I have kids, a home, or other living arrangements to pay for.
