This book is possibly one of my favorite books I have ever read. Wallflower means to be awkward and a bit introverted. I feel like I really connect with that, because I tend to feel shy or not as outgoing as I would like to be. This book has an amazing story, about a teenage boy named Charlie who deals with his own special issues. He meets friends who become like family to him, and they learn who he really is. Many traumatic events took place in Charlie's life, and he has to learn how to deal with it. The ending was my favorite part because there was a big plot twist, which made me very engaged in the book. This book really taught me not to judge others or assume that someone else's life is easy.

This book follows the life of a 9 year old girl named Ruby, who lives on a farm with her mom and grandmother (Miss Eula). I love how this book portrays the granddaughter and grandmother relationship so well, and shows just how torn Ruby feels when Miss Eula moves to Hawaii for a while. She learns what it's like to be outside of her comfort zone, and makes new and amazing friends along the way. Overall this is a very endearing book that introduces a complex little girl who tries to find her place.

The Trouble in me is inspired by the author's own experiences with growing up. It describes a young man's life named Jack , who wants to become a new version of himself. Instead of being the perfect kid who always listens and obeys rules, he wants to live the life of a rebel teen. I think this book does an excellent job of showing just how teens are so influenced by the people around them, that they might just do anything to be like them. Jack starts to slide off track and get into serious trouble. Later he realizes that he may not be ready for the consequences and what is to come.

This was a little bit different from the books I usually tend to read, because it had more serious plot. It was all about a teenage boy named Shane, who was struggling with the recent suicide of his younger sister Destiny. He faces grief with his mother, as she tries to stay finically stable. With his father being gone, ad Shane being a closeted gay teenager, he faces many obstacles. He turns to David, whom he's had a secret relationship with for the past few months. Shane hopes to go to a university of his choice with the money from his father's inheritance, but that hope is shattered when the money is used on mandatory house repairs. He learns to accept himself, and find out who he is, and what his future holds. This book is so powerful because it opened my eyes to the reality of the struggles that young people have to face everyday.

The Go-Between (192 pages)

I really enjoyed this book and how the characters in it really developed. The Go-Between introduces a teenage girl named Camilla, who lives a glamorous life in Mexico city. Her mom is an accomplished and very well known actress in telenovelas, while her dad is a wealthy voice-actor. Her life is completely turned upside down when her and her family move to Beverly Hills, and she pretends to be the person that everyone around her assumes she is. A poor scholarship student who's parents work as a maid and gardener. This book really shows how powerful friendship is, and how it's important to have someone there for you. She eventually confesses the truth and fights for her friends back. I love the way this book is written because it really made me think about both racism and finding a place in this world.

I decided to read this book because it was a little different compared to other books I've read. When You Reach Me is a science fiction, mystery type book, which I found really interesting as I read. It's all about a girl named Miranda, who starts getting mysterious notes from a stranger who says her friend is in trouble. In the beginning of the book I found myself very confused at all the clues/notes that were given to her, because there was no clear directions about what she needed to do. In a way that made reading more fun because I would try to figure out what was happening, and who was giving the notes. The ending was definitely my favorite part because everything is revealed and concluded. Overall this book was very enjoyable and I'm glad that I read something new.
