Reflection Week 9 (12 December 2021) What have you learnt today?

From today’s class video Chapter 4: Life Annuity, Part (2/3) I have learnt that n-year temporary life annuity, m-deferred whole life annuity and m-deferred n-year temporary life annuity. A due n-year term annuity guarantees payments made at the beginning of the year, while an individual is alive for at most n payments. Part (3/3) explains about two types, discrete life annuities which are annuity immediate and annuity due. Annuity immediate is annual payments made at the end of each year and continuously for a period of time. While annuity due is annual payments made at beginning of each year and payable for a period of time. There is n-year temporary life annuity due and n-year temporary life annuity immediate. For deferred annuities, which payment does not begin immediately but deferred for one or more years consists of n-year deferred whole life annuity due and n-year deferred whole life annuity immediate. Besides, there are also life annuities with m-thly payments which it is usually payable on monthly, quarterly or semi-annual basis. It can be calculated under UDD assumption and traditional approximation.

For the continuous case we learn about the n-year temporary life annuity, m-deferred whole life annuity and m-deferred n-year temporary life annuity.

Next, for the discrete case of life annuities, which was seperated to 2 types (annuity immediate & annuity due) which annual payments paid at the end of each year and paid at the beginning of each year respectively. For this part, we also look at the whole life annuity, n-year temporary life annuity, n-deferred whole life annuity and life annuities with m-thly payments where the life annuities are often payable on a monthly, quarterly or semiannual basis.

Last but not least, we also learn them with some example to increase our impression
