I think designing this print its what led to my preference of TinkerCAD over Fusion360 for simple prints. 

I was able to experiment with creating holes, text and the sketch function on TinkerCAD. Overall I believe the print came out well but was limited by the fact I used a large layer thickness.

There is also evidence that layers melted together around the letter and at certain points around the edge of the print.

This initial segmentation was quite time-consuming as I was still unfamiliar with meshmixer at this point. I also needed to make sure the selection did not include teeth but still included the detailed shape of the gums.

The quality of the print is questionable and the teeth do not fit together how I intended if at all.

We intentionally added space between the teeth to allow for sound propagation. However, this combined with the lack of coordination between the two jaws makes the print look haphazard. It is also unclear which jaw is the top and which is the bottom

The teeth are also not very distinct, there are simply sharper versions of human teeth. This matches with the siren teeth we previously used as inspiration but falls flat in terms of a striking visual.

The aim is to address these criticisms in the next version of the print.

I created a list of those students and how we felt we may benefit from their input :

1. Poppy Braddy
We had an interest in the pigment she mentioned during her talk that reacts to light and how we could possibly make use of that to model colour-changing scales on our Siren.

2. Roberta Schreyer
We also felt as though Roberta's work and interest in structural colour could be useful to our project. Specifically her work surrounding the colour "Morpho Blue", that is created using structure instead of dye.

We briefly considered our Siren having pigmentation similar to that of butterfly wings

3. Lexie Li

However having spoken to the art students, I asked each of them if it would be possible to reach out and exchange emails while we spoke. 

Hence I was able to reach out to  Poppy and gather more information about the photosensitive pigment she mentioned.

For this reason we printd a premade set of scales that I found on thingiverse.
