In Sub-Saharan Africa, sources of water are very limited, as well as under undrinkable and unsanitary conditions. With their community under very harsh circumstances, the people have no choice but to consume this contaminated water. In result of these dissonant predicaments, the community, specifically women and girls, are now obtaining water-borne diseases (transmitted from infected water specifically linking to diseases such as cholera, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid and polio), which ultimately affects their potential in terms of, education, economic development, environment or surroundings, and the health of the general population/civilization.

Picture below shows young girls carrying buckets of water they've collected to bring back to their village.

Water is one of the most essential necessities for anyone to flourish. Various countries don't have access to much water, which effects their community economically, socially, and politically. The aspects towards not possessing a fundamental ideality in life, is almost reprimanding these people of opportunities they were not granted. This issue suppresses them of their rights and harms their society in various approaches. For instance, water is the basic foundation to build proper infrastructure; therefore lack in sustainable water will hinder their development in terms of their architecture. Most importantly, health of the civilization is significantly affected, as unhealthy women and children will only lead up to an unstable society. It is very crucial for these people to gain healthy and reliable drinking water to nourish the life in their region.

Picture below shows the pollution in the waters the people in Africa have to use in their day to day life.

There's no specific date to when the water scarcity occurring in Africa started, as it has been happening for decades, where its evolution is in effect of other causes overtime, which has lead up to a hazardous point. However, causes of this issue is in effect of the industrial and agricultural water pollution, insufficient access to proper sanitation and supply, and infrastructure disputes, leaving only a diminutive percentage of fresh water available for human consumption. The increase in population, as well as economic development and poverty, only contribute to the lack of water needed for these people to flourish.

Picture below shows an example of a small village in Africa with bad infrastructure.

The people involved with Africa's government and economic system are the main groups who caused the scarcity in water. Africa contains a variety of issues relating to poverty and inequality that all trace back to lack of water. Despite efforts of the government to increase the amount of job opportunities, the unemployment rate actually increased. Africa’s "Gini coefficient" (a measure of income inequality) also indicates that the country is actually more unequal currently than it ever was before, ultimately implying how majority of the people are too poor to even pay for the basic necessities, like water. In addition to their inefficient funds, prices are rising quicker than amount in incomes and job creation. The quality of schools and health care services offered has deteriorated as well, only contributing to the worsening health of the community. The African government must understand that African's are entitled to their economic and social rights, which must be taken into consideration to improve.

Picture below is the logo of the South African government.

There are many organizations and productions that aid in helping develop a sustainable place for clean, sanitary water for the people of Africa. One of the most popular organizations is called "The Water Project". They build or construct working wells in the towns or villages in Africa for the people to utilize. These wells provide clean, safe, and drinkable water for the community. They are a charity group based off people willing to fund it, and have groups located in Africa to help build these wells when they reach enough funding. They also utilize help of African citizens to dig and build these wells, as well as educating them in training in facilities, to provide proper knowledge for the people. I personally think this is amazing, as it makes the people feel like they're apart of something important, and teaches them valuable knowledge on where the water comes from.

Picture below shows one of the well projects completed in Africa, funded completely by "The Water Project"
