Everyone at school is very mean to him they always avoid him and don't talk to him. The climax of the book is when he is at a sleepaway school camp when he is bullied by some seventh graders some people stand up for him then everyone quickly hears about it. In this story he is eleven. In these eleven years he had gone through 27 surgeries. Throughout the story August is sent to a public school where he meets lots of people who aren't exactly nice to him but he does end up meeting some really nice people who he ends up becoming friends with. The biggest part of this story is to be kind.
