Shakespeare's Family life

Shakespeare's family consisted of Anne Hathaway his wife, Susanna his daughter, and twins Judith and Hamnet.Shakespeare and Anne got married to each other in November of 1582 and remained married till Shakespeare's death in 1616.When growing up Shakespeare had 7 other siblings totaling to 8 children his parents had. Gilbert, Joan, Joan, Margret, Richard, Edmand, Richard, and of course William Shakespeare.

Shakespeare's death

Shakespeare lived a rather short life and lived till 52 which was considered a long life in the 1600's. Shakespeare revised and signed his will on March 25, 1616. His presumed birthday on April 23 he died. He was buried at the Holy trinity Church In Stanford. No one knows how Shakespeare died yet his brother-in-law died a week earlier due to an infectious disease so it can be implied that he could have caught it.

Queen Elizabeth the first and her monarchy.

Queen Elizabeth the first was the longest reigning Tudor in her family. As the youngest born she actually was never suppose to be queen. Many of the queen subjects thought that women were inferior to men in every respectable way. Her single state became a cornerstone in her success placing her as the Virgin Queen. She always put her country before her own needs. Her long reign had many achievements such as overseas expansion, military victories, and more

Clothes in the Elizabethan Era were much more elaborate then clothes in other eras. With the queen being dedicated to fashion, clothing was a way of showing your status. Stockings, long thick dresses, and collars were worn on those with higher statuses. The commoners who didn't have enough money to copy the designs exactly used cheaper material to try and copy the higher ups. The people often reused and recycled their clothing trying to use it as most as possible.

London and its living conditions during Shakespeare time

London in the 1600's was home to around 100,000 people. These people were mixed with migrants from other European countries and people who were born there. The streets of London were very crowded bringing many diseases to one who may just be walking on the street. Thieves were common to due to the overcrowding. Plague a disease that is well known would strike London every summer in the 1600's with about 10,000 being killed every summer. Besides the sidewalks there was really no open roads. Due to the overcrowding homes were being built on every piece of land that was open.

London's violence in Shakespeare's time

London in the early 1600's was driven by violence. The separation of classes and the fact that food prices were getting to expensive for a commoner to afford fueled London's commoners. Many protests for food shortages that was becoming famine ended with violence due to the fact having money solves all the upper classes problems. In the 1590's Queen Elizabeth attempted to limit challenges and duel yet her trying to stop it made people want to do it more. The rate jumped from 5 recorded duels in the late 1500's to 20 a decade later. Brawling did start to decline due to the rates of duels

Queen Elizabeth was very fond of the theater and many playwrights got their start under her rule. Many playhouses were built for her to view plays in private. She was a huge fan of literature and had many plays written by Shakespeare preformed in her private theater. Many businessmen wanted to close the theater due to workers sneaking off mid day to see plays. Yet the Queen liked theaters and they couldn't go in the way of the Queen.

Elizabethan times, The Globe theater

The original globe theater was built in 1599 but was destroyed in a fire in 1613. It was rebuilt many years later but was forced to close down. While the original was being built their landlord refused to renew the lease while all the timbers was still on the land. Shakespeare and the company sneaked on the land with weapons and got the timbers back. Shakespeare was in fact a shareholder of the theater having a share of 12.5 percent. Only paying 10 pounds for his share.
