         <description><![CDATA[<div>Digestive begins in the mouth. Here the food is chewed the mixed with the saliva, which begins the digestive of some substances and swallowed. The teeth help crush up the food so it could be swallowed, so it could travel to the esophagus. The tongue helps push the food to the teeth so it could get chewed up so you don't have to swallow big chunks of food. The saliva helps make the food into mush, the mush is also called bolus, when the food is mush it is easier to travel to the esophagus.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The Esophagus </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The esophagus is like a stretchy pipe that's about 10 inches long. It moves food from the back of your throat to your stomach. The muscles in the walls of the esophagus move in a wavy way to slowly squeeze the food through the esophagus, it takes about 2 or 3seconds. There is also a windpipe that lets air go in and out of your body. When you swallow a small ball of mushed-up food or liquids, a special flap called the epiglottis flops down over the opening of your windpipe to make sure the food enters the esophagus and not the windpipe.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The stomach </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Your stomach that is attached to the end of the esophagus, it's a stretchy sack shaped like the letter J. It has three important jobs, the first one is to store food that you ate, the second one is to break down food into a liquidy mixture, the third job is to slowly empty that liquidy mixture into the small intestine. The stomach is like a mixer, mashing all the small balls of food that came from the esophagus into smaller pieces. It does this with the help of the strong muscles in the wall of the stomach and the gastric juices that also come from the stomach walls. It's an addition to breaking down food, gastric juices also help kill bacteria that might be in the eaten food.<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>The small intestine </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> There is something called a villi that comes before the small intestine and it helps absorb nutrients from the food that passes through. The small intestine is a long tube that is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide, and it's packed inside you beneath your stomach. If you stretched out an adult's small intestine, it would be about 22 feet long. The small intestine breaks down the food mixture even more so your body can absorb all the vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. The small intestine can help extract them with a little help from the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder. Those organs send different juices to the first part of the small intestine. These juices help to digest food and allow the body to absorb nutrients. The pancreas makes juices that help the body digest fats and protein. A juice from the liver called bile helps to absorb fats into the bloodstream. The gallbladder serves as a warehouse for bile, storing it until the body needs it.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The large intestine </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;The large intestine also known as the colon is around 3 or 4 inches around, the large intestine is wider than the small intestine and it's almost the last stop on the digestive tract. Like the small intestine, it is packed into the body and would measure 5 feet long if you spread it out. The large intestine has a tiny tube with a closed end coming off it called the appendix. It's part of the digestive tract, but it doesn't seem to do anything. After most of the nutrients are removed from the food mixture there is waste left over stuff your body can't use. This is when your body tells you that you need to use the bathroom. Before it goes, it passes through the part of the large intestine called the colon, which is where the body gets its last chance to absorb the water and some minerals into the blood. As the water leaves the waste product, what's left gets harder and harder as it keeps moving along until it becomes a solid, it's poop also called stool or bowel. The large intestine pushes the poop into the rectum, the very last stop on the digestive tract. The solid waste stays here until you are ready to go to the bathroom. When you go to the bathroom, you are getting rid of this solid waste by pushing it through the anus.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Your heart, lungs, and liver are all very important, and luckily you've got ribs to keep them safe. Ribs act like a cage of bones around your chest. Your ribs come in pairs, and the left and right sides of each pair are exactly the same. Most people have 12 pairs of ribs. The first seven pairs of ribs attach in the front to the sternum, a strong bone in the center of your chest that holds those ribs in place. The remaining sets of ribs don't attach to the sternum directly. The next three pairs are held on with cartilage to the ribs above them. The last two sets of ribs are called floating ribs because they aren't connected to the sternum or the ribs above them. </div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Your skull protects the most important part of all, the brain. The skull is actually made up of different bones. Some of these bones protect your brain, whereas others make up the structure of your face. All babies are born with spaces between the bones in their skulls. This allows the bones to move, close up, and even overlap as the baby goes through the birth canal. As the baby grows, the space between the bones slowly closes up and disappears, and special joints called sutures connect the bones.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Your legs are attached to a circular group of bones called your pelvis. The pelvis is a bowl-shaped structure that supports the spine. It is made up of the two large hip bones in front, and behind are the sacrum and the coccyx. The pelvis acts as a tough ring of protection around parts of the digestive system, parts of the urinary system, and parts of the reproductive system. Your leg bones are very large and strong to help support the weight of your body. The bone that goes from your pelvis to your knee is called the femurts, and it's the longest bone in your body. At the knee, there's a triangular-shaped bone called the patella, or kneecap, that protects the knee joint. Below the knee are two other leg bones the tibia Just like the three bones in the arm, the three bones in the leg are wider at the ends than in the middle to give them strength. the ankle is a bit different from the wrist; it is where the lower leg bones connect to a large bone in the foot called the talus. Next to the talus are six other bones. But the main part of the foot is similar to the hand, with five bones. Each toe has three tiny bones, except for your big toe, which has just two. This brings the bone total in both feet and ankles to 52.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Each arm is attached to a shoulder blade or scapula, a large triangular bone on the upper back corner of each side of the ribcage. The arm is made up of three bones the humerus, which is above your elbow, and the radius and ulna, which are below the elbow. Each of these bones is wider at the ends and skinnier in the middle, to help give it strength where it meets another bone. At the end of the radius and ulna are eight smaller bones that make up your wrist. Although these bones are small, they can really move.</div>]]></description>

Your skull has some of these joints (called sutures, remember?), which close up the bones of the skull in a young person's head.
