Strep throat, also known as pharyngitis, is a bacterial infection caused by group A streptococcal bacteria. The bacteria is gram positive and it's structured to grown in chains. This bacteria is transmitted through direct contact with an infected individual especially through bodily fluids like respiratory droplets and/or saliva. However, foodborne transmission is also possible if the food isn't handled in an appropriate and clean manner.
Pharyngitis (Strep Throat): Information For Clinicians | CDC
