Aristotle means 'the best purpose'. Aristotle was a greek philosopher. He was born in Stagirus, Nothern Greece in 384BCE. His father, Nicomachus died when he was a young boy. He then was looked after by Proxenus of Atarneus.

His studying years

When he was 18 he joined Plato's Academy in Athens.He remained there until he was 37. During his time there his papers show he studied physics, biology, zoology, metaphysics, logic and ethics and many more.

After Plato's Death

After he finished his schooling years soon after Plato died.He traveled with Theophrastus to the island of Lesbos. There they studied botany and zoology . Aristotle then left Athens to the request of Philip of Macedon to tutor Alexander the Great. Through teaching Alexander he was offered many opportunities including his own library in Lyceum which was a step forward to writing hundreds of books.

After Lesbos island

Aristotle then headed back to Athens to build his own school called the Lyceum. He conducted courses for the next 12 years. Aristotle the married Pythias and soon after they had a daughter also named Pythias. His wife Pythias, then died.Soon after he was in a relationship with Herpyllis of Stagira. They then had a son, Nicomachus, after his father.

Between 335 - 323BCE he worked on some of his greatest dialogues . One of his dialogues was written with Socrates. It was called " On the nicomachean ethics". Another dialogue he wrote was on ethics.There are a number of Aristotle's dialogues that are missing.

There are a number of Aristotle's dialogues that are missing. These include poetry, letters and essays. He wrote Politics, Sophist and the statesman which have only just been found.
