Huck and Tom had gained a small fortune from their past adventures from the earlier books "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer". Huck gets kidnapped by his father but eventually escaped and would meet Jim, a runaway slave. The two embark on a adventure on a raft going up and down the Mississippi river. The two would grow a bond with Huck constantly doubting himself being friends with a black man. The two would meet two grifters who claims they are noble blood and they ride along with Jim and Huck's raft. After escaping from one of the grifters schemes, Huck realized that Jim has been sold by the swindlers. Huck resolves to free Jim once and for all. After a elaborate escape plan that fails, Jim is recaptured and given back to his original owners who died months ago and set in their will to make Jim a free man. The two main characters, Huck and Jim, embodied this. Jim has a good heart weight down by the pain of being a slave. He is portrayed as having above average intelligence (for a slave) compare to the other characters, notably the negatively depicted white characters. Huck's character goes through conflict through the novel. The ideas that he was taught clashed against with becoming Jim friend. But Huck decided that Jim was a good friend and, ultimately, coming to his friend's rescue. Jim returned the favor when Huck succeed in getting Jim out but gets shot. The tone is then represented by Huck's own way of conveying the story to us and he is very distinctive in his voice. He is a peasant boy and speaks in broken grammer. This is Twin adding extra flavour to the story having the narrator be realistic and relatable. Symbolism in The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn can be found on the Mississippi river, being a symbolism of life. The raft that carries Huck and Jim can be symbolic of a cell. The raft itself can barely be steered and is limited to the river determining it's speed and where it'll end up. It is here that Huck and Jim bonded, speaking man-to-man rather than master-to-slave. Mark Twain purpose for perpetrating The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn can be to illustrate the hypocrisy of slavery. Huck and Jim, before joining on the raft together, were both imprisoned. Jim was a slave and Huck was lockup and beaten by his father. Other characters reactions to these two are vastly different however.
