I thought this comic was a great example of what we are talking about! A student asked a very important question as instead of the teacher simply answering, she avoided any conversation on race. The teacher’s respond I think can me interpreted in many ways, but for this student, he know thinks race should be silence and how it doesn’t matter. This is a rich comic.

Comics can also help educate students on disibilities or struggles that other students may deal with. Disibilties are another conversation that is silenced in schools!!!! This comic can help teachers and students understnad that all students have different needs.

This article is a teachers’ blog on expressing comics within the classroom! it starts with how and what the teacher and parents wanted their students to be educated on then led to the many issues our society faces today. Seperate from diversity, they talked about the matters of rape, social hierarchy, stereotypes, and other prominent topics, especially in the school enviroment, that continued to not be talked about as much as they should be. Examples of those who identify with LGBQT+ community and females are being incorporated in comics leading readers to be feel more excepted and educated. They give a great example about the comic, Thor.

However, often with comics marginalized groups are stereotyped, therefore not giving equitable representation to all. The article also discussed how race-bending in the entertainment industry often leads to an uproar because white males have been prioritized in the industry for decades. However, this does not mean that we should continue the use of white supremacy in comics and should instead continue to allow people of all groups and identities to be superheroes!
