Jenna - Her ideas on academic excellence were really well-rounded.
Austin - I like how Austin backed up his essay with that infographic showing the higher scores of people with a musical education.
Alexis - The idea of providing tutoring to athletes is a very charitable idea. Her most supported point was about the homework ban, kids do indeed tend to get sleep deprived with weekend homework.
Erika - Good point that many of our nations problems were solved with original, creative ideas. 
Jada - I liked the observation that creativity cannot be measured, and I like how you make the point that creativity can be integrated into the classroom.

Jenna - I liked her arguments of AP classes weighing more than an online class on students' GPAs as well as increasing school security.

Diego - I agreed with his point that reading can lead to a lack of people being able to think for themselves and develop their own opinions.

Austin - I liked the idea of including creativity into classes rather than having a class based solely on creativity.

Alexis - I agreed with her point that we need to incorporate creativity into our school system because so often, there is only one answer looked at as correct, when really there could be multiple. I also strongly agree with he stance on the amount of homework students receive that leads to sleep deprivation of students.

Erika - I agreed with her point of ensuring that students are helped to reach their full potential. I also liked that she wants to separate the student based on ability rather than age.

Jada - I liked her stance on the plagiarism issue in Piper, Kansas. I agree that the students deserved the zero that they received. This revoking of the grade, did show a decline in national integrity.

Gracie: I liked her stance on the idea that creativity should be brought forth into every subject, and that it can be very helpful in furthering the thought process of students.

Jacie: I agreed with her than all of the sophomores that plagiarized should have received a zero. I liked her stance on making sure no plagiarism takes place in the school system, and in using effective punishments for students guilty of plagiarism.

Jose: He argued that we need a class in creativity because it will further help a student after school, in their adult life. I agree with this statement.

Taylan: She supports the idea of implementing creativity into each high school class. I liked her view point on the fact that students' work is judged based on a rubric or one certain answer, when really, there could be more than one answer to a question. I strongly agreed with her statement that school seems more like a chore rather than a privilege.

Madalyn: I agreed with her statement that students are just thrown into a classroom with monotonous pencil and paper work or computer work rather than something that truly engages our minds and gets students interacted with the subject they are learning about.

Jordan: She thinks that reading can assist in forming one's own viewpoints and beliefs. I like this statement and agree with it.

Kailey: She does not believe there should be a set class for creativity, rather she thinks there should be creativity incorporated into each class.

Joah: I agreed with his stance that good reading makes you think more rather than less, and that from one's reading, they take an idea presented and build upon it with the addition of their own thoughts and knowledge.

Malea- Made a strong point on having a four day school week, and she brought to light the benefits that would follow a four day school week. She also strongly disagreed with plagiarism among students, and agreed that students should face punishment when caught plagiarizing.

Jose- He made a strong point about how students are not going to be prepared for the world outside of the school system because they were never really taught how to implement creativity into what they were taught.

Taylan- Taylan's strongest point was how the school system makes no room for creativity, and how children are being taught not to have an original idea but instead follow the rubric that was given. She stated that we need to implement creativity into all of our classes so that the "unique" students are not left behind.

Madalyn- Her strongest point was how the school system actually grows us out of creativity instead of moving us toward a more creative society. Kailey- One of the points that stuck out was the reexamining the honors credit given to courses and that placement tests should be given to evaluate who should be allowed to take higher level courses. I also wrote about that but I liked how he used more specific examples. My essay was mostly based on logic but he used examples that really solidified his argument. This may be unrelated, but I also liked the poster! 
Diego: His argument about reading vs. thinking was very interesting about how we learn (read) but never make anything of it. It kind of went along with his view points about creativity that we should make a class on creativity because we need to make use of our education by utilizing creative thinking to turn our knowledge into something useful. I found his argument against standardized testing/curriculum to be profound and rock-solid. Education should not encourage conformity but encourage individuality. 
Austin: He had a strong argument about the importance of music. He described how music is beneficial to cognitive development. It is also helpful in creativity and developing a sense of individuality for our students. He supported his points well with his infographic that included impressive SAT score averages from high school musicians. 
Alexis: She supported her ideas on creativity and the implementation of innovative teaching methods. I found her point about supporting student athletes to be strong as well. She spoke greatly about her athletic involvement, so her advocacy for student athletes is well placed and supported. 
Erika: Her ideas about implementing creativity into our curriculum rather than into just one class was her strongest point. I agreed when she said that creativity will not only benefit students now, but how we will continuously reap the benefits of learning to be creative in our future careers. She also supported her argument that we should be supported to grow throughout our education rather than dividing students up based on perceived ability. 
Jada: She supported her view that plagiarism is unacceptable, and I completely agree. Her logic was clear, they did no work so they should receive no credit. She related it to advocacy for fair jurisdiction in the school system. Jada also spoke about integrating creativity into classes that are already there, it makes more sense to just apply creative thinking into our curriculum.  
Gracie: Creativity should be put into every class. Her anecdote about her involvement in science olympiad supported her claim that using creativity in each class is rewarding to the student. I agreed with her when she said that because we will not be given a template to follow for every task later in life, schools should give us the opportunity to take the initiative to think on our own considering we'll need it. 
Jacie: Plagiarism is a punishable crime. Jacie supported her claim with strong logic as well as actual facts such as the fact that plagiarism is a form of stealing and condoning stealing reflects a national decline in integrity. Wavering in the face of overbearing parents it not acceptable. The school board should not falter, it is their job to hold their students to a certain standard so they can succeed later in life. 
Malea: There should be a break on Wednesday for students each week. Malea did a PSA on this claim and it supported her claim by including actual instances of success for the four day school week in places such as Georgia and Oregon. Test scores and graduation rates increased with the implementation of the four day school week. Malea's argument was sound as it included pros and cons to solidify her claim. 
Jose: Jose's argument that while things like the ability to complete the square will be useless in your future career, you will need creativity, and it needs to be versatile. He explains that creativity is a necessity and there needs to be a greater importance on it than there is now, that is why we need to implement a class in creativity. 
Taylan: She argued that creativity needs a medium, this medium should be our general classes, creative thinking should be implemented into our regular classes. I really liked her idea that originality is important and that the idea that we should memorize information rather than gain knowledge that can be used to manufacture solutions to complex issues is wrong. 
Madalyn: Creativity will make out students more engaged in classes. Hands-on-learning is a great way to implement creativity into our classrooms. Madalyn supported her claim by giving specific sources that explain our decrease in creativity. She also explained that while the US is struggling, so are other countries, but there are also countries we can learn something from such as Finland. 
Jordan: Reading is not a waste of time and it does not limit our thinking. Jordan thinks that you can learn a lot from literature but still be able to form your own opinions about things. She also agrees with the saying "always reading, never to be read", it is important to take what you learn from the things you read and form your own conclusions about whatever you might be evaluating and sharing your opinions. 
Kailey: Tardies should not be so serious in the eyes of the administrators, you should not be penalized the same way you are for a fight. Creativity should be implemented into each and every class instead of simply making a class on creativity. Teaching everyone to be the same in terms of creativity defeats the purpose. People should have to take placement tests to get into AP classes. Kailey also believes that arts classes should receive honors credit the first time they are taken no matter skill level or investment. 
Joah: Reading allows you to build on ideas presented in the text and it can be intellectually stimulating. Joah used examples of great thinkers who also loved to read to support his claim that when you read more you think more. Reading can allow you the initial knowledge or jump start your thinking process to get your mind moving. He portrayed reading as exercise for your brain that can enhance your creativity and capacity to think. 
Jaida: Plagiarism mostly comes from extreme procrastination and a lack of will to pull yourself out of the hole you willfully dug yourself into, it should be punished. She believes that you can not assess true creativity, the idea that creativity has been tested is ludicrous. Jaida also believes that you can learn a lot from books and it does not limit your thinking, in fact, it expands your ability to think. I also like how she includes that there is not any type of template in life as used in a writing essay.

Jacie: She made a good point about the decrease of integrity through generations and how the principal and parents were being too soft on the students punishment for plagiarizing. 

Malea: She makes a good point about having a 4 day school week to give students a refresher day. I strongly agree on having a free day to catch up on any missed work and or participate in extracurricular activities without the rush of having to attend them after school and then getting home late after them.

Jose: I like how he mentioned in the creativity essay that in the real world, an employer is not going to ask you what x and y equal in a math problem, instead they may ask you questions about your creativity and how you approach a problem.

Taylan: She explained how children who are different and unique compare to the other uniform excelling students, are looked down upon because they are not just like the other students. Students are put on a ladder and the less successful students feel isolated from the other students.

Madalyn: Classrooms are bland, we need more hands on learning. Ted Talk, Students have so spent too many years in schooling than they care to count. I like how she supported her argument on this. School holds us back from reaching our full potential of creativity. 

Jordan: She thinks that reading is important. Makes a claim that you should make your own contribution with your own thoughts and not just read other people's works. Having to cram in required classes versus taking advanced classes we want to take. Believes we should get to take classes that go towards our future career not just because they are required.
